Happy Herd

Jeff went to church early this morning to serve on the tech team. I had the day off though, so the girls and I just breezed into church about 10 minutes before service started. But these girls were looking so cute today! Emmie was wearing an entirely thrifted outfit (sweater, dress and sandals), and Addie was wearing an entirely hand-me-down outfit from big sister (dress and boots), and both just so adorable.

Every January, our church does a spiritual emphasis month, focusing on praying, reading scripture, and fasting. We’re beginning that now, so everyone got a booklet to work from, plus a nice little reflection notebook to work through reading the book of Proverbs, one chapter each day all month long.

We went out to lunch with a big group of friends after church at 4 Rivers. There were four families, totaling 10 kids and 8 adults, and we had a fun time all together! For our fam, we ordered the “happy herd,” which is a giant family meal to share. It says it feeds four, but I guess they meant four adults, not two adults and two tiny people, because we still had SO much food leftover. It comes with four meats, two large sides, and four pieces of bread (either rolls or cornbread), and we still have enough for at least one or two more adult-sized meals.

After lunch, Jeff took the girls home, and I went to get a pedicure. I also ran a couple of errands after that, and picked up a coffee before coming home. Then I went back to work in Addison’s room, finishing up the whole clothes situation. Yesterday I did her closet, and today I did her dresser. We emptied everything out, bagged up the stuff to donate, and moved in some of the new stuff we had set aside yesterday. Doesn’t look like much just from this pic, but the top of her dresser used to have clothes piled about two feet high, so the fact that it’s clean now is a big deal! The trash bag on the left is clothes to donate (the second bag of the day, saving to fill up more), and the shoes I’m still trying to sell on Facebook. Other than that, things are all good to go in there now!

I accidentally kept working a little bit too late and then was way too tired to cook dinner. So instead, Jeff ran out to grab Taco Bell (Addison’s request) while I languished on the couch for a bit, and then washed up some dishes. While we ate dinner, we started watching “Robin Hood” with the girls (the animated version from the ’70’s), and they were loving it so much. Luckily, bedtime was easy peasy, and everyone was ready to settle down when it was time.

Having some hot tea now (technically, this is my leftover tea from earlier, warmed back up again), and working on my puzzle some more.

And now we’re back to another Sunday night, where I have to go back to work again after a nice holiday break, and very much not looking forward to that…
