Today was my turn to serve in GC Kids. I think I’m always scheduled the first Sunday of the month, but I don’t pay too much attention to that. I am always on the check-in desk though, and then I’m always taking pics and videos and posting them on our GC Kids socials, which is a fun job for me!
Today was the day for Mexican food, since Jeff and I had both been craving it for a few days, so we went to our favorite place in town, Echalee. After putting in our order, obviously we had some time for a few rounds of cards while we waited for our food.
Jeff and the girls skirted into church right at start time, so they didn’t have time for sister pics. Then it was flooding after church, so we had to make a break and run straight to the car. So then after lunch, we left the building through the back patio, so that we could finally get a cute picture of them together!
Addie was so cold and tired on the way home, and asked us, “Can I take a nap in the car, Mama?” I was like nooo girl, you gotta nap at home! But she couldn’t help but snuggle up and close her eyes for a few minutes anyways…
Luckily though, she did lay down and Jeff got her to take a nap in our bed when we got home. Emmie and I napped together on the couch, while it was all dark and stormy and rainy, and we were very cozy together.
Once Emmie and I woke up though, we watched a movie together on Netflix, and did some calm, quiet hobbies together. First, I picked up this huge stack of library books I had on hold at the library yesterday, so I had to figure out which to read first, and put them in order in my little library tote. First up will be “The Love Haters” by Katherine Center, because it’s new (just came out in May), and I’ve been on hold for it since then, and it’s got so many more holds, that I only have these three weeks to read it and then it’s got to back for the other 30+ people still waiting for it.
First time I’ve made a teddy graham latte in a while, but it was just what I needed to go with our afternoon activities.
Made some delicious tuna salad for our dinner tonight, and got “fancy” by grilling up some nice sourdough bread, rather than just toasting some white bread… Topped mine with lettuce, tomato and red onion, with some salt & vinegar chips on the side, and this was yummyyyy.
After dinner, the girls played together by making a fort in Addison’s room, I washed up a ton of dishes, and Jeff folded one load of laundry and started a new load in the washer. When it was time for bed, Addie picked this Bambi book to read, but I had to skip over the sad parts, and then we were all kinda confused when the last sentence was something like, “The animals watched their forest burn from the island,” or something sad like that. It was not only sad, but also felt a little non-final, like something was missing. So I think we’re gonna have to hide that particular book and not make it an oft repeated bedtime story…
The girls are spending their last week of summer with Nana, so we don’t have to pack lunches or swim bags or water bottles or sheets & blankets, so that’s one good thing. But we will be a one-car fam for a few days, since we realized the tag renewal is way out of date on Jeff’s car, so we’ll all be car-pooling together for a few days, until Jeff’s appointment at the tax collector’s office to renew the tag. Even though he’s been driving around like that for way too long, we don’t wanna take any further chances and risk getting ticketed. So although we don’t have to pack a ton of stuff, we do have to all get ready and loaded up and leave together, so that’ll be it’s own challenge!
