Gingerbread & Thumbelina

Decided to treat myself to a festive holiday drink from Red Eye this morning on my way to work. They posted their holiday menu the other day, and like four of them sounded so good, and I just needed to try one today!

Today I got the iced gingerbread latte, and although I did need to add a couple extra packets of Splenda (I always like my drinks sweet), it was really yummy!

I don’t know what was going on with this first picture here, but they both look silly so I wanted to include it. Emerson’s class were all dressing up like some of the fairy tale characters they’ve been reading about this past week, so she chose Thumbelina, and put together this little outfits with a pair of wings!

And here’s the little Thumbelina drawing she did at school too! I love her little drawing style, it’s so adorable! And honestly, better than I could do!

Yesterday, I was looking around our office area for our Buddy the Elf cardboard cutout, but he was stuck behind a filing cabinet, and it was 4:58pm, and I decided to just wait until today. But then when I walked into my office this morning, he startled me standing there!

And one of my decorator helpers from yesterday brought in a nice red bow to top off the tree today, so it’s all finished now!

At home tonight, this little goofball made herself a tiny pillow fort, complete with a pillow roof, to watch a little bit of tv before dinner.

Grammy has been so helpful this school year, by ordering snacks from Amazon and having them delivered to the house for our family and Meg’s family. Since we pack the girls’ lunches every day, and have to send multiple snacks as well, plus just snacks for home, we go through an incredible amount of snacks! So today we got a HUUUUGE box full of stuff. It was so many snacks, I had to clean out and organize my pantry cabinet just to make space. The basket on the bottom is FULL of snacks, and you can still see boxes on the floor and the side, because I still couldn’t fit it all! But everything is so nice and neat now, and we have enough snacks to last us through the end of the semester. Huge shout out of thanks to Grammy!

And Sheppy was found up on the pantry this morning, maybe he wanted to make a bag of popcorn for his journey to find Baby Jesus.

After dinner, and organizing, we started getting ready to decorate for Christmas! We fold up and put away the keyboard, and move the chair from under the windows to this other side of the room. (We’ve got a box of Goodwill donations started down there, and a mirror that matches Addie’s dresser we don’t want/need, if anyone wants/needs that.)

But sadly, once we got it partially fluffed, and Jeff hunted down an extension cord, we plugged it in to find that about half of the lights don’t work anymore 🫤 It was a serious bummer. So we’re going to attempt to find some at Walmart that might match, so we can just string an extra strand around it for this year. Then maybe we can buy a new one on clearance after Christmas if we’re lucky….

But hey, the good news is that Addie has done really great in Emmie’s room for the past two nights. And tonight, she actually asked to sleep in Emmie’s room, and obviously I told her that was a great idea!

Tomorrow will be another busy Saturday, so I better get myself a little bit of rest tonight while I can!
