For the majority of the day today, we just stayed home and got some long-overdue chores done. We started the morning with jumbo pumpkin cinnamon rolls, which were super yummy. We worked on laundry and the typical tidying up, but then also tackled a few of those areas that get overlooked during busy seasons, and before you know it, the side table in the corner is completely covered up with junk.
Jeff was working on his car for a while, and Addie wanted to stay home with him, so Emmie and I took a quick trip to the library for our typical drop-off of books we’re finished with, and pick-up of new books we had on hold. We also picked up our weekly grocery order, and grabbed lunch on the way back home.
Then I put these two cuties back to work at home, and they both thought it was such a privilege to share window-wiping duties together 🤣
We did more laundry, and dishes, and I swiffered the floors and we put away all the clean stacks of clothes. Jeff and I both got showered and cleaned up and dressed up. One of the girls’ favorite teenagers from church, Chandler, came over to babysit, and we went out to celebrate our anniversary! It’s actually tomorrow on October 5th, but we will have been married for 12 years! And lucky for us, we had gift cards and coupons to treat ourselves, without spending too much of our own money 🙂
We started out with an appetizer at Harry’s, which is one our all-time favorite places, and also the place we had dinner on the night we got engaged way back in the day. We also found a $50 Visa gift card while we were cleaning today, so thank the Lord for that!
Then we had a gift car to Connor’s Steakhouse that we won at the marriage night at our church a couple of weeks ago. And my word that was so stinking delicious. That was probably the best steak I’ve ever had!
When I made the reservations online earlier this week, there was an option to enter a special occasion, so I added that it was our anniversary, and this sweet card was waiting on our table when we were sat down! I thought that was a really nice touch.
And then they gave us this strawberry short cake (with a candle, and the other waitress told us “happy birthday”), for free! It was only a half portion, but it was still more than enough to share and it was super yummy.
Then we stopped by Midtown Reader before going home, where we browsed around a little bit, mainly just trying to walk off some of that food, because we were both so stuffed! But we found a Little free Library right outside that I had forgotten about (I did grab a book from there), and then I also picked out a book from the store too, one that I had never heard of but sounds really interesting. And we used the rest of the Visa card for the book so that worked out great.
(Inserting this picture again a second time, so it’ll be the one linked on Facebook, since that’s the only way I can kinda control it…)
We made it back home in time to put the girls to bed ourselves, but they had such a great time with Chandler, and Chandler did such a great job with them! Addison was super sleepy and was literally falling asleep while we were talking to Chandler. Then once Chandler left, Addie crawled in bed, buried her head under a pillow, and fell asleep with the lights on while Jeff and I were still talking to Emerson.
It was easy to get Emmie to sleep, and I also fell asleep in her bed with her, after working all day and eating such a huge dinner. We had such a great night out though, and we were so thankful for the gift cards and coupons to help us celebrate without breaking the bank! Thankful for 12 years of marriage and the life and family we’ve made together 🥰
