Emerson had one last dress rehearsal at church this morning, for her Christmas play, which is tomorrow. (If you wanna see her, come join us at Generations tomorrow at 10am, or stream from Facebook or YouTube!) So we had breakfast at home, then took her to church. We worked on some chores and things around the house for a few hours, and then took Mirabel back to church to pick up sister. Had to run around with the trippies for a bit too while we were there, of course.
We ran into Publix after we left the church to pick up some lunch. Jeff and I split a whole turkey sub on wheat, and we got a carton of popcorn chicken for the girls to share. They were both a little wired, and being so cute and silly and singing this goofy song they’re obsessed with lately, about a pangolin. (I’d literally never heard of this animal until Jeff found this video a couple of weeks ago, and now they can all three sing this whole song.)
We took our lunch home and watched “Encanto” while we ate, and then I wrestled Addison down for a nap. Emerson actually folded a load of little kid clothes for me while I was getting Addie down, in exchange for her to watch whatever movie she wanted during Addie’s nap time. So while she was watching her show, I ended up taking a quick cat nap on the couch. Then she woke me up to paint her fingernails, which I had promised to do earlier in the day.
After nap time, we put some festive Christmas music on the tiny little speaker, and got busy on chores around the house again. We finally finished up our Christmas tree, putting the skirt on the bottom, and placing the stockings all around underneath. We set out a few more decor things around just the dining room mostly, and got all the boxes and stuff put back up in the top of Addie’s closet.
We had leftover donuts from this morning, so I just made some eggs and bacon to go with it, and we had breakfast for dinner, on Christmas plates, with milk in Christmas mugs.
I got this cute tablecloth on clearance from Hobby Lobby last year after Christmas, so tonight was the first time using it. And of course, even though I only filled up Addie’s Christmas mug like 1/4 full of milk, she still managed to spill almost the whole mug during dinner. So I’ve already had to take it off, and switched it out for some Christmas place mats, until we can get this in the washer, maybe tomorrow… (Jeff was on a computer call, so he didn’t make it to the dinner table with us tonight.)
The girls played while I cleaned up a few more things, and put a bunch of tiny girl dresses on little tiny hangers, and hung them up in the closet. Jeff finished up his phone call, so we all went through our usual bedtime routine stuff. Emmie and I read three chapters of our book together, trying to finish up in the next day or so. Jeff is still working on getting Addie to sleep, but we all know how she is by now…
Here are a few more Christmas decorations that Emmie set up, on the cute little cart by the tree. I gave her a few suggestions, but she did most of this by herself, and then I just helped out with the spacing of a few items. This cute wooden tree on the top shelf, and the little red wooden train on the second shelf, are some of the souvenir items my parents gave the girls from their trip to Europe this past spring, specifically from Vilshofen, Germany. And I love them both so much!
We don’t have a fireplace or hearth, so we’ve never really had a place to hang our stockings in this house. So we just tuck them under the tree, and that works well enough.I don’t even know where else we’d put them? But I like them well enough here. Looking at this picture though, I realize the tree got turned a little sideways when we moved it backwards against the windows, so the star is turned a little sideways instead of directly facing forwards. We’ll have to get that twisted tomorrow, cuz that will drive me nuts!
We were supposed to have a Walmart grocery pick-up tonight at 7pm. But it’s currently 9:27, and it’s still saying “delayed.” So I’m just gonna reschedule it for tomorrow afternoon, and hopefully they’ll have everything under control by then. For now, I’m going to finish the last little part of my puzzle, and then lay down on the couch to rest. I did a lot of stuff around the house today (dishes, laundry, tidying, cleaning, wiping, decorating, etc…), and I’ve definitely worn myself out!
