Look at these precious cuties before church today! Jeff went early to serve in GC Kids, but I had the morning off, so the girls and I rolled in just about 10 minutes before service started.
And Emerson had put some makeup on both of them this morning 🙂

Addie had to give loves to all of her adoring fan club after church of course 😉 She loves these girls, and they love her! On the way to church this morning actually, she listed them all by name and said, “I hope my friends will be there today!”

After church, Emmie’s bestie Daisy actually came home with us for the afternoon. We had a quick lunch from the Publix deli before heading home. Then Jeff and Addie laid down for a nap, and I put a pork loin in the crockpot for our dinner. Then I read a bit and eventually squeezed in a 40-minute cat nap. Emmie and Daisy just hung out in Emmie’s room during that whole time, playing with makeup and watching her Kindle and just acting like teenagers, instead of eight-year-old’s 😉
But then by late afternoon, it was time to head back to church for our annual GC Fall Festival! Daisy was already wearing this horse shirt, so she just borrowed Emerson’s pink cowgirl hat for her “costume.” And Emerson decided to be Rey from Star Wars VII this year! They did a Star Wars theme on their classroom door at school a couple of weeks ago, and that got her into it. So we’ve been watching some of it and she’s really interested now, so of course that makes us glad, since we’re into it too. And since Emerson was Rey, we made Addison be Princess Leia! And we crafted some very simple light-sabers for both of them with Dollar Tree supplies (a paint brush shoved inside a pool noodle {cut in half to make 2} wrapped in construction paper!) which actually turned out pretty decent. Or at least, the girls were happy with the lightsabers!

When Addie first saw her bestie in her costume tonight, she literally gasped and said, “You’re ELSA!??!!!” She was so impressed and excited to see her, and it was very cute.

Emerson convinced me to play one of the little child/parent duo games tonight, that I usually veto. But tonight we just had to do a little relay, keeping a balloon smashed between our two foreheads down the road, around a cone and back. And we won! We won a coupon for a free item from the snack bar, so we traded it in for boiled peanuts that the whole family got to share 🙂

I was really proud of myself for planning ahead for dinner tonight, for the first time in years of doing this event. Usually, there’s too many people in line for the food trucks, or they don’t have food the girls would like, or I just didn’t want to spend that amount of money… But this year, I decided since the event was over at 6:30, I could put food in the crockpot and have it ready for our dinner when we got home. So after lunch today, I put a pork loin in with some onions, Dr. Pepper, bbq sauce and plenty of seasonings. Then when we got home, I got the girls into a very quick bath, while Jeff shredded the pork, added a bit more bbq sauce, and we served it up as pulled pork bbq sammies with some bbq chips, for the fastest, easiest post-festival dinner, since we were all very hungry and very tired.

Uncle-Pastor Bo, Aunt Meggie, and the rest of their team did a great job on this even as always! Now, we have to figure out how to get some red face paint off of Addie’s white dress, and hope it’s not stained forever, since they’re wearing the same outfits for trick-or-treating on Friday too…
