Garlic Parm

We scrounged up another matching wintry outfit for the second day in a row, on another cold day. This outfit was actually Emerson’s idea today. And Addie was wearing new shoes she got for Christmas, with mis-matched socks she picked out herself. And I guess she found that headband in Daddy’s car on the way to school, because she didn’t have that on when she left the house! But they’re obviously both adorable.

I got off work early today, to pick up Emerson early from school, for a quick visit to the pediatrician. She’s had this weird bump on the inside of her lower lip since like, last July, and it won’t go away. We thought it was an ulcer. But on Christmas Day, Dr. Uncle Bo & his assistant ChatGPT diagnosed it as a mucocele, and it said to consult your doctor if it doesn’t go away in a few weeks.

So the doctor looked at it today, and in 2 seconds was immediately like, “Oh that’s just a mucocele, no big deal, it’ll go away.” So I tell her how long it’s been there, and what ChatGPT said, and she was like, “Nah, no worries, it may take a while, but it’ll go away eventually! But hey, wanna get a flu shot while you’re here!!?” So yeah, Emerson had her flu shot (since we had paid the $20 co-pay anyways, I figured we might as well), and apparently she’ll just have that weird thing in her mouth for who knows how long!?

I promised her a snack for being brave, so we went by the gas station and she picked out an ice cream Twix bar. I picked out a low-carb snack of colby jack cheese and a teriyaki meat stick, and I was proud of myself for resisting all the other yummy snacks. We picked up Addison a little earlier than usual, and then we visited one of our favorite Little Free Library’s on the way home.

I threw a garlic & herb pork loin with some onions and a fresh-squeezed orange into the crock pot this morning. So tonight I just made up some sides to go with it. In light of my low-carb attempts, I made a family-sized thing of instant mashed potatoes, but then made double veggies so I could fill up on meat and veggies, with just a tiny portion of potatoes. I added butter, garlic salt & parm to the green beans, and they were SO good! And the pork was so good too! Now that I’m thinking about it though, I should have just added some garlic powder on the broccoli and potatoes too, to have an entirely garlic spiced meal. I’m a big garlic girlie, so that would have been perfect…. next time…

Everybody was all snuggled up on the couch with me and Pennie after dinner, as we finished watching the original, animated version of Cinderella. Next up, we’ll probably watch the 2015 live-action version in a couple of days.

Emmie went to her room first, and in the few minutes it took for my to use the restroom, and change Addie into a fresh nighttime diaper (she’s fully potty trained, except for at night still), Emerson had completely fallen asleep by the time we got in there.

I didn’t wash dishes last night, so now I have a sink-full of two nights’ worth of stuff to deal with. Good thing I just started a new audio book on my drive after work today, so I can spend some time working on the dishes, and getting a good start on the book.
