Fun in the Sun

After a super late night last night, we were able to “sleep in” a little bit, all the way till about 8:15am for me. I made us some scrambled egg sandwiches for breakfast, and then we kinda slowly started getting dressed and ready and packed up to go back to Grammy’s house again today. As soon as we got there, Jeff started helping Papa with a project, and I helped Mama make a giant batch of chicken & veggies, and then we made an assembly line and took orders to make burrito bowls for 15 people for lunch!

And then after lunch, it was finally my turn to get in the pool, since everyone else had already been swimming for an hour or so before lunch time. Our friend Renae came back over with her kids again, and we had lots of fun out playing in the water and floating around. And we had another day of beautiful, sunny Florida summer weather! We were surprised at how perfect the weather has been all holiday weekend, but so thankful for it!

By 3pm we were all out of the pool today, since we were all very water-logged and super sun-kissed. Alll the girls wanted to help Hayden take his afternoon bottle, but I Emmie won out for the majority of it. Also, please notice how curly his hair is getting!

Right before we were about to head out, I asked Meg to do my hair, and she whipped out this cute little cascading French braid situation, and it’s so messy and casual and cute! I can not do stuff like this, but I love having it done by other people!

Tired little Addie Pie fell asleep on the car ride home from Grammy’s house, with two different half-eaten snacks still right there in her hand/lap.

When we finally got home, it was right around 5pm, and we were all exhausted. We sat down on the couch for quiet rest time, with a Disney movie playing in the background, and we all fell asleep for a much-needed couch nap for about 30-45 minutes.

Jeff and Emmie wanted Chinese for dinner, so he put in an order and ran to pick it up while I still snoozed on the couch. Then we ate dinner in the living room while watching the beginning of “Camp Rock” (can you believe I’ve never seen that!?), until it was time to get the girls in the bathtub. We had some old sparklers that Emerson found a few weeks ago, and they were dying to do those tonight, so we gave in and let them do sparklers at 8pm in the driveway. Addie was scared at first, but she did eventually hold one on her own, and they both loved it!

Bedtime routines were started immediately after sparklers, and they were both so tired. Jeff and I are obviously tired too, after three busy days spent primarily having fun in the sun, so we’re ready for bedtime now ourselves!
