Well, after Addison tested positive for strep throat on Friday, Emerson woke up at 3am today, saying her throat & stomach hurt, and she had a fever. So Jeff stayed home with the girls today, and they watched GC Kids online, while I sang on the praise team. (Actually, had my first little solo verse at GC today too!)

Emmie mostly didn’t feel good, but Addie was back to her normal happy self today!

Today was the last day of the lemonade stand for missions, so even though I was there by myself, I still myself a cup, which actually meant I didn’t have to share with anyone 😉

I grabbed lunch from KFC after church before heading back home. Emmie didn’t feel like eating anything, but Addie scarfed down some chicken noodles and mac & cheese.

But then Emmie decided she was actually a little hungry, so I just microwaved a can of chicken noodle soup, which she ate like it was the best thing ever.

And then she promptly fell asleep in my bed for about two hours. (Also, by this time I had left a voicemail for the on-call pediatrician at our doctor’s office, telling her of Addie’s positive strep test, and Emmie’s new symptoms. When she called me back, she said given all the circumstances, it was safe to assume Emmie had it now. And she very nicely called in an antibiotic prescription for Emmie, without us having to go into the office, which I very much appreciated.)

Yesterday, I saw this dresser on the side of the road a few houses down from us. I wanted to stop and get it on the way to the wedding last night, but obviously we couldn’t. So today on my way home, I stopped to take a closer look. Then Jeff asked our sweet next door neighbor to drive him up the hill in his truck so they could pick it up and bring it back to our house, and he very generously agreed to help. Addison only has a small dresser in her room, and we’ve always meant to upgrade her to something bigger once she didn’t need a diaper changing table anymore. This one clearly needs to be refurbished and fixed up, but we fixed up a busted up dresser for Emmie’s room six years ago, so we know we can get this one looking pretty good too. Just gonna take a lot of hours and elbow grease and probably some fresh white paint.

I made myself a nice little whipped / frothed coffee situation to cool down after helping get the dresser out of the back of the truck, then we watched some YouTube videos until both Jeff and I fell asleep in the living room.

After about 2.5 hours, Emmie woke up, but little sister Addie Pie had to be woken up eventually.

Today was Nana’s birthday, so we ordered Olive Garden take-out and had delicious dinner at home, without the stress of dining out with small kids, especially ones that don’t feel all that great either.

As the night went on, poor little Emerson kept feeling worse and worse. So we didn’t end up staying at their house long, so we could get her home and get her in bed. We did get her first dose of antibiotics in her around 5:15, and then some ibuprofen at bedtime, to help bring down another fever. Then at 8pm, she was finally starting to get hungry (after not really eating more than a few bites of dinner or dessert), so I heated up some mac & cheese and she ate like a little princess in the bed, and said she was starting to feel a little better already.

Praying both girls have a great nights’ sleep, and that Emerson especially feels much better by this time tomorrow night.
