Food Coma

Friday

Cute little girls on a Friday morning before school!

I treated myself to delicious lunch from the Filipino food truck at my office, since it was pay day 🙂 It’s just simple grilled chicken over white rice, but they have this amazing vinegar sauce and I asked for extra sauce, and extra green onions. And it’s soo good!

The girls and I stopped by a Little Free Library after school on our way home, and we each found a book or two. And we left a few books there too.

Then we passed by this festive patio at La Tiendita, and made a spur of the moment decision to have dinner there. So we called Jeff and told him to come meet us there. We sat down around 6:15, waited 10 minutes for someone to come even take our drink orders, and then the man brought us four giant waters. When we asked for cups with lids for the girls instead, it took him another 10 minutes, and then he brought these weird cups with weird tops (the dome kinds for smoothies or something) and no straws, and claimed they were out of straws. Okay, weird.

And then we waited forreverrrr… We entertained ourselves with some books and reading for a while, but by 7pm-ish, not only had the waiter never come back, but we also never even got any chips and salsa, nor the cheese dip we ordered. So Jeff went inside to tell them we were leaving, and we returned to our favorite Mexican place instead, Echalee.

When we got to Echalee, we were sat immediately, and given chips and salsa immediately, and the drinks soon after. We inhaled the chips, because we were all starving by then. They quickly brought us a second basket, and our cheese dip, and within 20 minutes, we had our meals as well. The service was incredible and the food was delicious, and we tipped them very generously because we were so happy.

By the time we made it home, we were all super full and very tired, and practically in a food coma. I laid down on the couch with a blanket, then Emmie laid down with me and covered us both up with a second blanket, and then Pennie laid on top of her. Addie settled down in Daddy’s lap in the recliner, and then all of us passed out! We all woke up around 10pm, and then just went straight to bed.

Saturday

We set our alarms today so we wouldn’t sleep in too late, because we had stuff to do today! Cinnamon rolls for breakfast to get started.

Jeff left us early to go over to his parents’ house, to help his dad build a shed in their backyard. So since he wouldn’t be home to help out around our house, I begged Nana to come over and help us out instead. And as always, she was a huge help. She washed the dishes, with lots of help from the tiniest girl, and then scrubbed down the sink, counters, stove top, air fryer, and coffee pot.

Meanwhile, Emmie and I were running all over the house working in the living room, dining room, the girls’ bathroom, and washing some laundry. I also ran out to pick up our grocery order from Walmart, and dropped off a load of donations at Goodwill. Nana left around 11:30, and I made up snack plates for lunch for the girls and I. After getting all of that cleaned up again, I got this adorable little candle warmer lamp set up, that Nana actually got me for Christmas. It’s so pretty, and I love it!

We had some quiet movie rest time for a while after lunch, and then finally made it out of the house around 2pm. We first went by 7Brew for a smoothie for the girls to share (as Emmie’s special treat I promised her for helping me in Addison’s closet last weekend), and a large iced latte for me. Next stop was a few quick minutes playing Lego’s at the library, and picking up the book I had on hold.

Oh, and quick interjection of Jeff’s photos, to showcase their work on the shed situation. They first built this little box, and filled it in with stone and gravel to level it out, before starting to eventually build the platform and shed.

After the library stop, the girls and I went out to Havana as well. Our first stop was the little community playground. Last weekend, I posted a huge amount of baby clothes on FB Marketplace for sale, and a girl from Bainbridge met us there at the playground today and bought the whole lot! I was able to read a tiny bit, but Nana joined us there too and then we mostly just chatted while the girls played.

We had to head over to their house eventually, when Addison needed to potty, but the park bathrooms were locked. But Nana pulled out all sorts of games and toys for the backyard, and they had tons of fun back there too.

And while I went inside to start making some cheeseburgers for dinner, Nana stayed out to help them get the roof up, and they were actually able to finish the whole project in this one day! It took them literally all day, with multiple trips to the hardware store for all the rocks and gravel, and they’re both worn out, but they did it! This was actually given to Jeff and I a couple of months back, but we never put it up, and then they really needed one, so we decided to give it to them. It’s a little dirty and needs to be pressure washed, but it was free and in good condition, and meets their HOA requirements. So it’s good!

We had cheeseburgers and chips for dinner, and then I put the girls in the bath. That was followed by hot tea for me and Emmie, with hot cocoa for Addie. Then all of us had freshly baked brownies that Nana made earlier this afternoon, with some ice cream on the side.

Of course the girlies fell asleep on the ride home, and were slightly grumpy with the transition from the car to the bed, but they were both asleep after only one lullaby, so it wasn’t too bad. I took a super fast shower myself after getting them to bed, before coming to write this post.

I turned on my cute little candle warmer when we got home earlier, so the house smells nice now, and the living room is nice and neat and tidy. So it’s my favorite time to flop down on the couch and watch tv – when it smells nice and looks tidy. 🙂
