Everyone was excited for Friday, after a great first week of school! We’re so glad Addison has transitioned so well not only to a new class, but to a whole new school this week. She’s really done amazing, learning a new routine, in a new place, with all new teachers and friends. And I’m so proud of her!
Emerson got this cute little temporary tattoo from after-care yesterday, and wanted to wear it for spirit day today, with her new Gilchrist spirit shirt. We got her this astronaut themed shirt at orientation last week, for Gilchrist’s 60th year of school! The theme this year is space, thus, the astronaut shirt.
Emerson’s teacher takes and shares pictures of her class almost every day (or at least she has every day so far this first week), on a private Instagram page she has just for the parents. Today, she posted pictures of all the kids scattered around in special spots in the classroom, reading books with flashlights! Apparently, this is part of what her teacher calls “Fantastic Fun Friday,” and they get to do fun, special things every single Friday! And Emmie still had her tiny little panda with her too. (Aunt Meggie and Uncle Bo brought her this from a trip they took to California back in 2017, when she was just a couple of months old!)
We met up with Jeff’s parents tonight at Outback for dinner, to see them off before they go on a big retirement/50th anniversary trip starting tomorrow. They’ll be gone for about 12 days, so we wanted to see them tonight before they leave tomorrow morning, and so we had ourselves a delicious dinner out. I love a good blue cheese wedge salad, and this one was great. Jeff and I both got the 3-course Aussie meal deal, which was a really great deal, with starter, entree, side & dessert, starting around $15, depending on your selections. Since I upgraded to the wedge salad, mine was about $18, which is just one dollar more than the normal sirloin, but includes dessert!
Addison ripped this coaster apart for no reason and then asked me to take her picture with the pile of scraps.
Emmie and I made a quick run by Nana’s house after dinner, to pick up some of their groceries that they didn’t want to go bad while they’re out of town, like deli meat and some salad kits and string cheese and milk. All of which will be helpful, and will keep our grocery bill slightly lower this weekend. We had a little bit of a late bedtime for a Friday night, but the girls are both sound asleep now. I finished my library book earlier on my lunch break today, so I need to go grab the next one in my pile and get busy reading!
