Family Birthday Fiesta

We’re back in our regular Christmastime routine of doing the Advent calendar every morning first thing when she wakes up.

And remember today was pajama day at school, so the girls got to just roll out of bed, and didn’t have to change clothes before heading out the door! We dropped of Baby Addison at school first…

And then we finally made it the thrice-rescheduled dentist appointment! (We had the bandaid over the boo-boo on her face, just to be super safe.) She did such a good job there this morning, and was so chill, just laying there with her shades and headphones, watching “My Little Pony” on her ceiling-tv.

She did good getting her x-rays, but they did reveal a few cavities that we have to get filled. Her mouth is just so tiny and her teeth are so squished, the cavities are in between the far back molars, where we just haven’t been brushing well enough. So we’ll have to go back in a couple of months to get those filled, and we’re going to focus more on brushing and flossing more diligently. They also told us today that they don’t actually know how to really brush their own teeth until they’re like 8 or 9, and that parents should really be doing the majority of it until then. I really didn’t know that, and unfortunately we had to learn the hard way, with a few cavities first 🙁

She was excited for her little cup full of “treats” (toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and floss “swords”), and when I dropped her at school she hollered she was hungry, so her and the director were walking down the hallway hand-in-hand towards the kitchen to dig up something for her to eat.

Today was my sister’s 31st birthday, so we planned a little impromptu family dinner together tonight to celebrate. We had delicious food at Pepper’s and lots of fun all together!

Addie was exhausted through all of dinner, and only slept in my arms for about 10 minutes. So by the time we got home, she had a bottle and then promptly passed out after finishing every drop.

We’ve decided to do all of our bedtime books in this chair by the Christmas tree for the next month, and it really does make it feel more magical to read books here together.

Oh also, I found Sheppy, the Shepherd on the Search, tonight, so tomorrow, he can officially begin his search, and Emmie will get to search for him every morning.

Also, Emerson’s pediatrician called in some antibiotics to help her face heal faster (it most likely got a bacterial infection in it), so now we are doing an oral antibiotic and a topical antibiotic for the next 10 days, and hopefully we can get it all cleared up and healed as quick as possible. (I’ve been taking close-up photos every day to compare, but not sharing them here because I know not everyone wants to see injuries like that. It even gives me the heebie-jeebies sometimes.) I hate that her poor little face got so messed up, but hopefully it’ll be better fast, and not permanently scar too bad!
