I’ve been loving the sister pics Jeff has been getting of the girls every morning, out on the grass in front of the big church at NFC. I also love Emerson’s casual pose today, all leaned up on the lamp post in her Converse, looking like a little pre-teen model or something!
Addison was looking especially pretty in a pretty little pink dress, looking so nice for picture day. I’m really just hoping she smiled nice for the photo, and I can’t wait to see it!
Mama texted us girls this morning asking if we were free for lunch today or tomorrow, and today worked best for all of us luckily. We met at at Masa by Lake Ella, and started by sharing this bowl of edamame beans, and then we each ordered a different entree for their lunch express platter. I always get their mongolian chicken, because I love all the onions that come with it! It has three different kinds of sauteed onions, and I really love onions, so that’s finally the amount I’d want in a dish! 🧅
The majority of our conversation today revolved around the Donna Adelson trial (in the Dan Markel murder case here in town), because those two are obsessed, and have been watching every minute of the publicly televised trial the past two-ish weeks! 🤣
Jeff went and picked up both girls from school today, so I just went straight home. And as soon as I got in the car after work, I started up a new audio book I just got from my digital library holds in the Libby app. This is the second novel by this author, and I really loved the first one of hers that I read a few years ago, so I have high hopes for this one too.
And then I made a new recipe for dinner tonight, for Hawaiian-inspired spam & egg rice bowls. It was super easy, and very filling, but also tasty and flavorful, and something I’ll definitely do again. It just needs a little something on top, like a cream-based sauce drizzled on, or something like that. Like maybe yum-yum sauce or some sriracha mayo. Emerson cleaned her bowl, and then helped herself to two more helpings of rice. Addie actually did really well too, and I still have enough to take to work for my lunch tomorrow. I also topped mine and Jeff’s with the little French fried onions, because I just have to have onions in everything 🧅
After dinner, Emerson worked hard on a little “family traditions” project due in class tomorrow. They could pick anything they wanted to share about a tradition they do with their family, and Emerson chose our LDW getaways. So I printed that collage picture of our can tab donations through the years, and then she drew some of her favorite parts of this past weekend. She drew an adorable Little Free Library, the lighthouse, and her favorite restaurant (and mine) The Yellow Deli.
After finishing, she cuddled up with Pennie on her little floor mat, and they both laid here like this for at least 10 or so minutes, and it was very sweet.
Addison was “reading” her own book tonight, it was a little alphabet book, and she was saying “H starts with Hat, G starts with Goldfish, F starts with Feather, but I don’t know what this thing is.” (It was an insect. Which I tell her every time, but it hasn’t quite sunk it yet.)
Emmie and I had our usual reading time together in her bed, and then we got both of the girls to sleep easily. Now, I’m trying to decide if I’m gonna talk myself into washing dishes tonight (definitely really should) or if I’m gonna ignore them for the night… OK how about I compromise with myself, I’ll do as much as I can in just 10 short minutes, with a timer on my audio book, and then call it quits so I can read 🙂
