Do Not Disturb

Mornings are always very busy. I get up early enough to pack lunches for me and Addison, and at least once a week I also do a meal in the crockpot. I usually pick out Addie’s clothes too, but Emmie picks out her own. Then we fix water bottles and coffees, and make sure both girls have two snacks. Then it’s backpacks and shoes, and they’re finally running out the door, as I finish getting myself ready.

And lately, it’s also been a sweatshirt and a “giant poofy jacket” and scarves some days too. I saw a meme a friend posted that said something like, “I’m tired of this free trial of Alaska weather.” And that’s so true!

Today sadly, Emerson forgot her Simone Biles cereal box project at home. Jeff called me when I was about halfway to work, so I turned around to get it, so he could get her to school on time. After dropping off Addison though, Jeff’s car was having some issues again today, so he ended up abandoning it at Gilchrist, and I picked him up after dropping off the cereal box project. So then he took me to work, and I let him keep the car for the day.

I brought my cute new coffee mug that Meg gave me for my birthday into the office today, to be my new office mug. It’s the perfect size for a K-cup of Keurig coffee, and was so cute! I also love the smooth texture and the feel and thickness of the handle. I know that sounds silly, but if you’re into mugs, you get it 😉

Jeff came back and picked me up after work, and we both went to pick up the girlies. Daddy and Addison looked so cute walking hand-in-hand back to the car together in the sunset.

We raced home, made Emmie a quick PB&J, and she grabbed a go-gurt. I had some beef jerky and string cheese for a snack, and then we headed up to the gym. It was weirdly empty tonight, especially since last Monday was super crazy bananas. During her stretching and warm-ups, she was the only kid on that side of the whole gym! And usually, there like 3 classes all sharing the floor, plus boys on the rings in the back corner, and a group of girls on the vault strip too. NO idea where everyone was. One other girl joined her class eventually, and they worked those girls hard tonight!

We were both very much hungry and ready for a warm bowl of chicken tortilla soup by the time we finally got home at 8:15. Jeff made up Emmie’s bowl right before we got home, so she could just wash her hands and sit down to eat immediately. I made up my own bowl and topped it with cheese and sour cream and a squeeze of fresh lime. And it was so warm and yummy.

Emmie was exhausted by the time she finished eating, so she changed clothes and curled up on the couch next to her sister. Addie was just looking so cute and rosy-cheeked, propped up and cozy on the couch.

I finished eating and got all the leftovers put away. I’m going to eat the two bowls for lunches this week, and freeze the giant jar to save for another time.

Addison fell asleep super fast tonight, since it had been a long while since she took her sleepy gummy earlier tonight. Emerson though, had a harder time falling asleep, and she was the one that was still asleep even after all of the prayers and multiple lullabies. I tried to sneak out of her room, but she called me back wimpering, saying, “You left me and I wasn’t asleep yet, Mommy.” So I sat back down on her bed for another 10 minutes, until she was finally asleep.
