Decorating the Tree

Sweet little girls in matching Christmas dresses (and even matching jackets), all ready for church this morning.

I was back serving again in GC Kids this morning, and we had a great time in there today! It was also decorated for Christmas, and it looked so nice and festive.

We left Emerson at church again for lunch and choir rehearsal, and the three of us went to Jersey Mike’s for our own lunch.

After lunch, Addison and I both took a nice long nap together. It was so dark and rainy and cozy, we slept for like 2.5 hours. So Jeff went back to church to pick up Emerson, and they went through the 7Brew library before coming home, to get drinks and a free ornament for “jackpot day,” which is always a special day on the 7th. He got me candy cane mocha, and it was super yummy!

And then we finally got our Christmas tree decorated! We have a huge collection of ornaments from through the years, things we’ve been gifted, or bought ourselves, or gotten on trips as souvenirs, or the girls made, or from when Jeff and I were kids, and I just love all the chaos of it!

We still have to dig out the star for the topper, and the fuzzy wool blanket I use as a tree skirt, and then we’ll be done with the tree! And then maybe we can put up a few other things around the house too. (And I might need to reorganize a few ornaments to spread them out a bit more, because Little Sister likes to return to the same spot over and over again.)

I felt a little fancy tonight, so I made baked honey garlic chicken, with fresh roasted broccoli, jasmine rice, and a pan of canned biscuits once I saw how little broccoli they had given me in my pickup order… And this was all so yummy! Emerson ate two helpings of the chicken and the rice, and then stole like five more giant bites of rice straight from the pot. And then she told me I should make it every week. So I guess I’ll be making this chicken again!

We watched a little bit of “The Polar Express” with the girls during and after dinner, and then got things cleaned up and tidied up before bedtime. When it was time to go to Emmie’s room, Pennie was the first one there, ready and waiting for us to settle down and all read Harry Potter together.

I can’t believe it’s already Sunday night, and that I have to go back to work again tomorrow. I’m certainly not ready for that, and I have a few chores to finish up to get us ready for a new week. But then I need to sit down and read a bit, because I have a Kindle library book loan that will expire in three days, and I need to finish it!
