Crocheted Scarves

Jeff went to church early today, to work in GC Kids. So while I was getting ready, Addison was in the back, with Emerson’s giant case full of makeup, just having a grand ole time!

Had to wipe her down with a warm paper towel, and she was still just kinda glittery all over her face and neck.

They both looked beautiful for church though! Grandmommie recently made all five grandgirls hand-crocheted scarves this past week. We picked out the girls’ dresses, and they remembered to go grab their scarves. We were also pleased to see they just so happened to perfectly match their dresses!

In GC Kids today, they had a celebration party for their record-breaking mission giving last year, which was over $33,000!! Raised by about 50-ish kids, in just one year! Isn’t that incredible!?

Addie’s shoes were apparently hurting her feet, so when I picked her up from class she wasn’t wearing them, and she wouldn’t put them back on. So she ran around inside church barefoot, and then had to be carried to the car.

We ran to Zaxby’s for a quick lunch today. I had pulled up the nutrition facts, and was reminded that buffalo wings have almost no carbs! And their cole slaw was the lowest carb side option, all rounded out with a Diet Dr. Pepper, which is my drink of choice lately.

Addie Pie was just being such a sassy little goofball during lunch. She’s also been singing this one little section of “I thank God” for a few days now, just over and over… “Get up, get up, get up. Get up outta that grave. OKAY!” And today she actually let me video her doing it, while being extra silly.

After lunch, I ran back to church for choir / worship team rehearsal. We just started a new plan to have rehearsals on the last Sunday afternoon of every month, to learn the next songs for the next upcoming month. The musicians all met for 45 minutes, while my sister led all the vocalist in our own rehearsal. Then we came together to practice all together, and we sounded great, honestly! And it was nice to just sing and hang out and spend time with each other for a little bit!

I went back home to pick up Emerson really quickly, and then her and I ran a few errands. We stopped at a few Little Free Library’s, shopped the BOGO deals at Publix, and we also picked up a new bookshelf for Emmie that I bought off Facebook Marketplace.

Funny story – I bought it via no-contact porch pickup from a guy I went to high school with {he was in the grade below me}, without even realizing it until the whole thing was over and done with. We messaged back and forth like 10 times since yesterday, and apparently I just never actually paid attention to his name, until his final “thank you” message, when we were in the car and the Android Auto feature read it out loud to me! I was like, “Wait, what? I think I know him…” And I did! I pulled him up, and right at the top it said something about NFC, and then it was obvious and I finally recognized him!

Now, before we put this in Emerson’s room, I think I might want to put a backing on it, so we won’t lose anything falling out the back or anything. I’m sure I can get Jeff to just attach a thin piece of wood or laminate or something, and then we can paint it white and it’ll be good to go. But we’ll see how long all that takes, with everything else we’re always doing…

By the time we got home, Jeff and Addie had woke up from their naps, and they helped us unload the car. We got the groceries put away, and I immediately got some sweet potatoes roasting in the oven, with a little help from Tiny. I had been busy busy from 9:30am – 4:30pm, so I sat down and let myself have a 15 minute break (playing games on my phone), before getting up to wash some dishes.

Then I finished up the rest of dinner. I made some turkey burgers on my indoor grill pan, with some caramelized onions. Then we had the roasted sweet potatoes and Caesar salad, with some diced strawberries too, mainly because the fridge was so full and we decided to eat them rather than shove them in somewhere. (I actually made six burgers, so I could have a couple for lunches this week.)

Jeff and the girls had their turkey burgers on buns, but I skipped that, and just put my sauces right on top, with some pickles on the side. And it was still super delicious. Jeff and the girls all really liked it too, and Jeff even decided for the first time tonight, that he actually liked the sweet potato! He has never liked them before, but I really learned how to roast them perfectly (from TikTok videos), and the were super good. Also, the girls both loved the burgers and basically cleaned their plates, and Jeff even had a second bunless burger himself. Dinner was definitely a success!

Emmie didn’t feel like watching Bluey tonight, so her and I just went and read Harry Potter for about 30 minutes. We’re in the final chapter, in the final part with Professor Quirrell and You-Know-Who, but we probably have about 30 more minutes of reading before we finish it all up.

It’s been a full, busy day today, but I need to go back and wash up some more dishes, before I can fully sit down and relax tonight.
