Creative Family Time

September sunrises are always so beautiful, and this mid-August one was starting to look super pretty this morning on the way to school.

And this girl was looking super cute as always, even if she didn’t want to wear the cute sandals I had picked out for this outfit, and insisted on wearing these sparkly ones instead 😉 This girl is too strong-willed to fight her about these kinds of things, so we went with it!

Yesterday’s sausage, egg & cheese scramble leftovers were still super delicious on samimch today, with a hot cup of coffee with my fave hazelnut creamer. Yum!

Emmie did actually take a short nap at school today (only one hour), but short is better than nothing at all!

I started a new audio book on my way to daycare to pick up Emerson. I listened to “Giver of Stars” earlier this year, and apparently both books are about the same subject (women traveling the Appalachian mountains running a library from pack mules and horses) and are very similar. I loved the first one, so I’m assuming I’ll enjoy this one as well.

Tonight’s dinner was Instant Pot shredded peperoncini chicken sandwiches, with shredded cheese on sweet Hawaiin roll buns. So yum! So for the chicken recipe, it says to use about 2 lbs of chicken and an entire jar of peppers. But I only used two frozen breasts, so I cut it down to half a jar, and I feel like that ratio was pretty perfect.

Emerson volunteered to say our dinner prayer tonight, and here’s how it went, “Thank you, Jesus, for this day. (Daddy, is your back hurting? No, not today.) Thank you for Pretzel. And what else? Thank you for this food. What else? Thank you for our family, help us have a good night and good rest. Amen.”

Then later she told me she didn’t want salt on her rice, even though I had already salted it of course, but she said she didn’t like salt. So we were listing names of salty foods that she loves, like chips, crackers, popcorn, and French fries. So then she says, “I love French fries so much. And then I stick ’em in the ketchup and it make ’em good.”

Little Bitty Baby was feeling a little clingy to Daddy tonight, and wanted to watch the “What’s the Weather” video, so she climbed up in his lap and rested her cute little chin on her tiny hand. While I had been getting dinner ready, Jeff and Emmie ran to Walgreen’s really quick to pick up some photos I had printed, and a poster board to make for school, and she needed this pink milk while they were there. It’s her favorite drink, thanks to her Papa.

And then after dinner, we worked on her “about me” post for school. We made it a family affair and all worked on it a little bit, and it turned out…. colorful. To say the least 😉

And Jeff was over there showing off, drawing a cute narwhal, while I was just doodling some lines and squiggles.

While we were creating our masterpiece, Pretzel curled up on the blanket on top of Emmie’s tiny unicorn chair. He looks so comfy!

Even though these were washable Crayola markers, they didn’t come off with just one hand-washing, and Tater Tot was a little bit concerned about that. i told her it would be fine and would come off eventually, after another wash or two.

She was allowed to have one mint Oreo thin that Nana sent home the other day, and requested one more cracker too. Although she ended up only eating two bites of the giant cracker, and decided she was done with it.

The whole bedtime routine was really rough again tonight, but I don’t want to talk about it again, so we’re just gonna move on…

We started “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” last night, but barely made it an hour into it, before I was asleep on the couch. So we’ll watch a little bit more of it tonight, before I fall asleep again.
