The girls were super adorable in their matching crayon dresses for church this morning, in honor of back-to-school weekend! Jeff went to church early to serve on the sound booth team, but the girls and I showed up just in time for church to start. I wasn’t serving anywhere today, so that meant I had extra time at home, and extra time to do all of our hairs today, all twisted up in cute claw clips.
We did have a few minutes to grab some donuts before sending the girls off to their kids’ classes, and Addie kept telling me, “Mama dis is di-lishus.”
There are a few specific girls that volunteer in the preschool room that Addie is just obsessed with. And she went running up to them after church when she saw them on the sidewalk outside.
I loved how Addie threw her purse over her shoulder and was just strutting to the car.
So August 10th is mine & Jeff’s official dating anniversary. If you don’t know our story, we actually met through a dating app way back in the day, in 2011, and went on our first date at the very end of May, a weekday lunch break to Zaxby’s. We dated through the summer, and then “made it official” on August 10th. So since today was August 10th, we decided to go to Zaxby’s in honor of our 13th date-iversary! I remember having a salad that first date too, so it was only fitting that I get the buffalo salad today too.
Emmie and I picked up our grocery order after lunch, and Jeff and Addie went straight home to get her down for a nap. I tried to read for a little bit, but ended up napping on the couch eventually, but Emmie just stayed awake, hanging out with Pennie the whole time.
Addie and I woke up around 3:30, and the girls and I spent almost an hour cleaning up Addison’s room. They girls have been using it as a play room lately, and it was like a hurricane had gone through there recently, but we got it looking so much better, all nice and tidy. Jeff finally got up around 4:30, and then all of us worked together to clean up the dining room, which was just loaded down with a bunch of junk that needed to be tidied up or moved to another room or put in the back of my car to donate or whatever else… We started a load of laundry, and also folded a load of laundry. We made a good amount of progress, and then called it quits when it was time to go meet the family for dinner.
We met up with Grammy, Papa & Grandmommie for dinner and ice cream at Culver’s, which we all love. Grandmommie was saying the blessing over our meal, and Addison was so cute with her head laid over on her shoulder.
The food was good, and we had enough free ice cream coupons saved up from the kids’ meals, plus the kids meals we ordered tonight, that all seven of us were able to get free ice creams after dinner. And it was just a good night together!
For the last few months, Addie has been sleeping between jeff and I in our bed, but we’re back on the train of trying to get her to sleep in her bed again. So we hyped up her clean room, and how important it is to sleep in a big girl bed, especially now that she’s in a big girl school. So Jeff did actually get her down to sleep in there tonight, and we hope it’ll last through the night, but we’ll see… Typically, she wakes up somewhere between 11pm-3am (even if she’s sleeping in our bed), and we have to settle her back down. So I’m sure that’ll happen tonight. I’ve bribed her with chocolate though, promising she could have some, if she just makes it one full night in her own bed. So pray with us about this!
Emerson was super sleepy tonight, and she was in bed and ready to sleep early, easy peasy. Jeff did have to sit at Addison’s bedside for quite a while, but she is asleep in her own bed right now, so that’s a good start. After I left Emmie’s room, I came out to the kitchen to put together a bacon, egg & cheese casserole really quickly, to keep on hand for Addie to eat for breakfast this week. Emmie gets free breakfast at her cafeteria, but she can have this at home if she prefers.
The timer just went off a few minutes ago on the oven, and Jeff pulled it out and set it on the counter to cool. Later, I’ll portion it out into little squares we can just easily re-heat for the girls in the mornings, and put it in the fridge. Jeff also rotated around the laundry a few minutes ago too, so now we have another load we can fold while we watch some tv. Earlier this afternoon, I laid out outfits for all five days for both girls, and Emerson even knows how she wants me to do her hair tomorrow for the first day of school!
