Container Gardening

Today was the summer kickoff in GC Kids, and so Emerson was supposed to wear her sunglasses to church today. We also picked out a very floral, tropical outfit to look summery too. And then we picked something bright and colorful and sunny for Addison too.

We all had some donuts in the little cafe, before going our separate ways. Jeff was actually on the sound tech team for GC kids today, so I was in big church by myself, at least until Meg got off the stage from praise team and came to sit with me.

For the summer kickoff, all the elementary kids got ice cream at the end of church!

We went to Dreamland with a giant group of friends (this was the kids table), but after sitting for 30 minutes and having only ordered drinks, it was just going way too slow. Emmie was melting down and came and said, “I just wanna goooo.” And I was like, we haven’t even ordered any food yet! So since we only had water, we just packed up and left everyone there… We couldn’t hang!

Instead, we went through the drive-thru at Culver’s, and luckily it was almost empty, and we ate quickly at home, before getting the girls down for the naps.

I did some more Bible journaling again this afternoon, using a song we sang in church this morning, and I loved how this turned out.

After the girls both slept for two hours, we went over to Nana and PopPop’s house. Nana had been cooking practically all afternoon, and she had this bbq feast for us, with pork, baked beans, mac & cheese, cole slaw and fresh cut fruit. (And lucky for us, she sent us home with leftovers!)

After dinner, we put the girls in some more casual play clothes, and then helped Nana work on her container gardening, by potting some fresh plants and flowers. The girls both had a blast, but made an absolute mess of themselves in the potting soil.

After the gardening, Nana packed up all the leftovers, and I got the girls cleaned up in the bath tub, and into fresh jammies. Then we had some apple pie and ice cream for dessert, but the girls were both very tired and grumpy by then, well mostly Addie was, but I didn’t get any more photos the rest of the night.

When we got home, Jeff fell asleep cuddling Emmie, and I fell asleep rocking Addie, and then we finally got both the girls into their beds at like 10pm. So that’s why I’m post this so late tonight…
