Completing Two Projects

Who wants to guess if Emerson woke up early or not today? If you didn’t guess YES OF COURSE SHE DID, then you must be new here 🙂 She woke up super early, then cuddled in bed with me watching a few videos, before I had to get up to get ready. Then she snuggled with Daddy eating mini muffins and watching Veggie Tales in the living room. When it was time to get her dressed, I put her pants on first, and when she looked down, she announced, “these are for my cheetah shirt!” I was so impressed with her for remembering that! So she was pumped about this outfit, and the matching shoes.

This girl is mixing patterns with ease.

After dropping her off at school, I started up a new audio book for my short drive to work. I’ve actually been on the holds list for this one for so long, that when I started it this morning, I had absolutely no idea what it was going to be about, but decided to dive in anyways… However, once I got on Goodreads later to read the synopsis, it was billed mostly as a “family saga spanning generations,” that almost completely made me lose interest. And since it’s almost 17 hours of listening time (that’s a LOT), and I only have the hold for 9 more days (that’s NOT a lot), I decided to just return it and move on to the next one when I left work this afternoon.

I just had to send my sister another photo of another pair of new earrings today, from the giant pack she gave me for my birthday. I think this is my favorite pair yet actually!

I didn’t feel like reading today, so I set up my little book/calculator stack to watch Netflix on my phone, while eating the leftover cheesy ravioli bake from Saturday, which was still super duper delicious. (So delicious in fact, I ate a few bites before taking a photo.)

After work, I started on my next audio book, and then I picked up Emerson from school as usual, and we headed on home.

While I cooked dinner, Jeff put the little feet on the toy chest, with some of those felt thingies to protect the hardwood floors.

I just made chicken & veggies and served it over rice, and we added some of the yum yum sauce on top, to jazz things up. It was simple, but good, and filled us up.

After dinner, we finally got the new toy chest moved into Emerson’s room. We painted it a super light gray, and it looks great with her gray curtains. But now I realize it clashes with the cream of her dresser… Oh well, I’m not concerned with that right now! But it looks great, and works great, and there’s tons of rooms for toys in it!

We also finally hung up a cute little sign that Aunt Megan painted for Emerson, like, 400 years ago, that we’ve just been meaning to get around to forever… And it looks perfect up there! Just like it should have been there the whole time. Thanks, Sissy!

And with that, we ended up completing two projects in one night! Now granted, one of them took three weeks, and one of them took three seconds, but done & done!

As we were putting away some clothes, she saw this nightgown she was given for Christmas, and even though it’s definitely too big for her, she absolutely insisted on wearing it to bed tonight. So even though it’s about to swallow her whole, she looks warm & cozy & adorable in it.

She liked this little spot we set up with this rug (that used to be in her tee-pee that’s not put up right now), with the llama pillow from her brothers, and she liked reading her bedtime books here tonight. She was also super sweet with hugs and loves and lullabies, and went right to bed afterwards.

I then washed up the dishes and cleaned the kitchen, while Jeff worked on some other chores around the house. With my annual Galentine’s Tea Party coming up this Saturday, we’ve got some chores to finish up this week, to get the house in tip-top shape. I’ve made a to-do list for the week, and we’ll do a few things each night to finish everything up before Saturday. So on that note, I’m gonna go finish a few more tasks before settling down later.
