Well, after a few days very under the weather, I’m finally back in the land of the living. Over the weekend, I had started to have that very faint feeling of getting sick, and then it hit me, and Addison too actually, like a mack truck in the middle of the night super late Monday night. So for two days, Jeff only took Emmie to camp, and Addie and I stayed home mostly trying to sleep it off.
We also both went to Urgent Care to get checked/tested, and turns out it was just one of those nasty viruses that had to run it’s course, with nothing much to be done about it… So we slept, and drank lots of fluids, watched some movies, and slept some more.
Addison finally made it back to school today, but I wasn’t ready to return to work, so Jeff took both of the girls to school and camp this morning. I spent the day at home watching tv and napping for the majority of the day. And then finally very late this afternoon, I finally felt like I was coming back to life, and felt like getting up and moving a little bit. So I took a shower, and then sat down to read for the first time in a few days. Then I got up and washed some dishes, and sat down to read and rest some more.
Jeff picked up both girls, and him and Ryan took both girls to the gym for Emerson’s gymnastics class. I was really feeling better by this point too, so I made some spaghetti, Caesar salad and garlic bread (and then read some more), and had dinner ready by the time the four of them all got home.
Jeff and Ryan had also gone to a movie this afternoon with Jeff’s dad, and they fulfilled their duty to bring us home some of the leftover movie theater popcorn, which is always a necessity for those of us who didn’t get to go to the theater. So after filling up on dinner, the girls still found some room in their tiny bellies for some popcorn for dessert.
Megan got Emerson the “I am Elphaba” book for her birthday, and then I immediately ordered the “I am Glinda” version to add to our Little Golden Book collection. It came in today, so obviously we had to read both of them for bedtime tonight. They were cute, and luckily they were only about the first movie, which is only the first half of the original book/broadway show, and luckily didn’t give away any spoilers for the upcoming second part, coming out in November. I’m sure we’ll have to buy those new versions when they come out too!
I can’t even remember the last time I called out of work sick, and three days in a row was truly unprecedented for me, as that just never happens. But I was glad for the extra day of rest today, and I’m ready to get back to our regular schedule again tomorrow!
