Emerson was extra adorable today in this cute little dress and her “heels,” all ready to go to school!
Jeff took Emmie to school, and I stayed home with Addie again. She woke up at 5am with a 101.5 temp, so I gave her some meds and we made plans to keep her home. So after Jeff and Emmie left, I made cottage cheese scrambled eggs for me and Addie (with green onions & hot sauce on mine), and a giant iced coffee for me.
She’s still been eating very little this week, but she did clean her bowl of eggs, ate every bite!
And then while we had a movie on in the background, we both colored together. She started out coloring her own picture on the coffee table, but then quickly decided she needed to color with me, with my fancy grown-up markers. I’ve never actually let her use them before, but I did today, and even let her color straight in my the coloring book with me on a special page we did together.
Then she was kinda digging around in my nail stuff, and found the green “Wicked” nail polish and exclaimed, “It’s Elphaba!” And then obviously she wanted me to paint her nails with the Elphaba polish. So I told her to look a little further and she could find the Galinda polish too, so we did one hand of each. And she loved it.
I made her some chicken nuggets for lunch, per her request, and washed up a big load of dishes while they were baking. Then for my lunch, I tried this new-to-me thing I got from Trader Joe’s a while ago, called kimbap. It’s kinda like sushi, but Korean. You just snip the corner of the package, and microwave for two minutes. Then, if you want to, you can also pan-sear in a skillet in a little oil (and I added soy sauce) to make it crispy. Then I topped with more soy sauce & sriracha mayo, and this was so good!
After lunch I put Addison down for a nap, and she slept for a long time. So I had lots of free time to myself to listen to my audio book and color, and also watch some tv, and also paint my nails Wicked pink & green, and also tidy up the living room. And look at my early Mother’s Day present Jeff grabbed at Walmart last night. I’ve been wanting/needed a container for all my markers, and this is perfect. It only fits about half of them though (all the browns, oranges, and yellows are still in the black bag they came in), so I’m still gonna need one more. It’s on a lazy Susan piece too, so it’s really convenient to just spin it around as I pick new colors! And they just look so good color coordinated!
I went and picked up Emerson late this afternoon (still earlier than a regular school day), and then I painted her nails with the Wicket pink & green too. We did another super simple dinner, based on what I had on hand in the pantry/fridge (I didn’t actually do a meal plan/grocery list this past weekend), which ended up with grilled cheese & soup, plus some black eyed peas for extra protein and to help make us more full. (Which was good, since I think the tomato soup was a month or so past the best-by date, and was not good, and we did not eat it.)
Emerson took a shower on her own tonight, and then she got all dressed and ready for bed. And here’s a picture of all of our matching pink & green Wicked nails! Emerson thought this picture looked cool, so we’re going with it 🙂
Even though Addison napped for like 3.5 hours today, she was still tired and ready for bed tonight. She did have another 101 fever again around 4pm, so guess she’s staying home again tomorrow. I’m gonna have Jeff take her back to the doctor though, for an actual sickness check, because yesterday’s appointment was actually just her well-check, and that’s all they did. But by today, she’s had a fever going on like 4 or 5 days now, and that’s just too much. Plus, I wanna get her checked out in the pediatrician’s office by doctors we know and like, and avoid urgent care on a weekend…
