Emmie and I went to church at 8am today. I had worship team rehearsal, and she just wanted to go early with me, for no reason, other than she’s my Velcro child and loves to be with me always 🤣 So Jeff brought Addie when it was time for church to start, and we all had a great morning at church. Grabbed their sister-pic afterwards, in their matching kitty-scarf t-shirts.
Jeff and Addie went their own way after church, and Emmie and I stayed there for another few hours. Their kids choir Christmas musical is coming up in two weeks, so we’re starting weekend practices now. So we had pizza for lunch for all the kids and a few helpers today, then they had rehearsal for a couple of hours.
While they were rehearsing, myself and a few other moms got everything set up for the kids to do a little mini missions work at the end of their practice. We set up one long table of powerade, snacks, and socks to fill up brown paper bags, and one log table of hand-made Christmas cards (which we wrote “Merry Christmas” on all with some small decor) for the kids to draw on and sign, to go inside the bags. We had about 20 kids, and we made 50 bags, which will be little Christmas blessing-bags for us to all hand out after serving dinner to the homeless tomorrow night, which is the main missions project we prepared all this for.
So after being at church for 7 hours from 8am-3pm, we were more than ready to put our feet up and get cozy at home and watch a cutesy little Hallmark Christmas movie together. Today, we watched the one centered around the Kansas City Chiefs, and it was actually really cute and sweet, and yes of course cheesy, but we love that! (By the way, Emerson spent the whole 90 minutes in a pillow-lined carry-all-cart thingy…)
After lunch earlier, Jeff and Addie came back home and he got her down for a late-afternoon nap. So around 5pm, we went in to wake them up, so we could get on with the day… So yesterday, we were shocked how expensive bikes were at Walmart, and wanted to keep looking. Early this morning, my mom sent me a screenshot that Academy Sports had good deals, so I immediately hopped on their website to check out all the options. They had one really cute one in Emmie’s size, and she loved it when I showed her, so we had to run out there to check it out on the last day of the Black Friday pricing. We found five already put together in the store, and she loved it!
When Addie came upon this display of Crocs, she rubbed her hands together, squatted down like this, and said, “Oooh just my size!”
So technically, this isn’t a Christmas gift, because Emmie is actually paying for this bike herself! Remember when she did the fundraiser for missions a few months ago? Well, she raised enough money to do a special “money jump” during kids church one Sunday, and she jumped far enough to earn $110! So she’s using that money to buy herself this new bike, and I’m so proud of her for that!! So to those family and friends that donated to her BGMC fundraiser back in September, you basically helped her earn her way to buying this bike, so thank you!!
We went across the way to Jersey Mike’s for dinner after shopping. We got Addie a “salad” which she devoured. (We just asked for a tiny cup of lettuce with ranch, and they thought it was funny, but were very nice to make it for us.) I got the #8 club-sub-in-a-tub Mike’s way plus banana peppers & cherry relish & mayo, and this was sooooo good!
Had to stop to fill up at the gas station on our way home, and this girl was being so cute and smiley and goofy at me while I was pumping gas.
And then once we got home, I got started making tea for Jeff, Emmie and me. But I accidentally busted a bag of tea while trying to get the tea back out of the package, and sent all the loose tea flying all over the place…
I’m sure by now you can guess that Emerson went to sleep immediately when it was time, and Addison flopped and whined and tried to convince us and herself that she wasn’t tired…
