Christmas Craft Fair

We woke up and got ourselves dressed and ready to go kinda early-ish for a cold Saturday morning.

Then we went to the Sunstop on Tharpe for their Southern-style breakfast, before doing some day-after-Black-Friday shopping for a few things. We needed some solid colored long-sleeved shirts to go with some pants for the girls, light bulbs for our hallways, and a new microwave for my office.

We found this gigantic moth sunning its wide-open wings on the Walmart sidewalk, so of course we had to stop and investigate.

Oh yeah, Emmie also test-rode some bicycles, but ultimately we didn’t buy one. They were actually more expensive than we expected them to be! So we’re gonna look around on Facebook Marketplace and Goodwill, and see what we might find.

And of course little sister couldn’t be left out of the bicycle test-rides.

After our shopping inside, we drove around to the outside and waited for our grocery pick-up order… for literally 50 minutes. We checked in on the app & waited a while. Then we called the number inside & waited a while. Then we called an employee over & waited a while. And finallyyyy got our stuff after nearly an hour. It was ridiculous and I was getting so super frustrated, but we finally made it home, and had a quick, late lunch.

Watching Daddy teach Pennie to play fetch.

Then Jeff stayed home and got Addison down for her nap, and Emerson and I went out to meet Grammy & Meggie at a Christmas craft fair at the car museum grounds. We wandered around for a couple of hours, checking out all the booths, purchasing lots of earrings, and drinking tea from HTeaO. It was a lovely little girls afternoon together!

Grammy bought all the girls Christmas-themed claw clips. Of course Emmie had to have hers put in immediately, so Aunt Meggie did it for her.

Her and I made a quick stop by the Eastside library, which is always so nice and clean and fancy. I had told her about the Boxcar Children books I used to read from my schools’ library growing up, so she asked her school librarian about it a few weeks ago, but they didn’t have them. We checked the Leon County library and there were quite a few spread out at the different branches around town, so we stopped in here and picked out the few they had, including the beautiful hard-cover re-print copy of the very first original book from 1924. (Oh, and she picked out this 3D-printed snake for her treat she bought herself with her own money from the craft fair earlier today.)

We did also stop by a Goodwill on the way home to look for a bike, but no such luck at that one. We’ll keep looking out though… Addie and Daddy were waking up about the time we got home, so we showed Addie her new Christmas tree claw clip and clipped it into her teeny tiny hairs, and it was adorable!

We met up with Nana for dinner at Walk On’s, since they got back into town earlier this afternoon.

I got the bang bang shrimp po’boy, which was pretty good. Needed more sauce though, even though it looks kinda saucy in this photo. Emerson got crusted catfish fingers from the kids meal, and that was really good and she ate every bit of all this fish.

Then we did a quick little shopping session at Belk with Nana. I hadn’t shopped there in years, but they actually had super cute stuff for the girls, and pretty good stuff for Jeff and I too. It’s pricier stuff, but everything in the store was marked down for their Black Friday sale, and we found some pretty good deals, including a new jacket for me, which I desperately needed, and not a day too soon, since it’s literally going to be freezing over night and tomorrow.

Jeff, Emmie and I all needed some hot tea when we got home, so I got everything all set up and ready, and put the kettle on. We put on warm jammies, watched a couple Bluey episodes, and then we did books and bedtime.

And like I’ve said almost every night recently, Emerson was super tired and went to sleep almost immediately; while Addison on the other hand has been fighting and giggling and crying forever. It’s currently 10:30pm, and I think Jeff is still trying to get her to sleep, so let’s pray we can get her down soon! I actually need another cup of tea, because I tried the cherry flavor from that fruit sampler box, and it tasted like hot cough syrup, and I could not drink that…
