Tater Tot woke up at 4am today. For no apparent reason. I went in to rock her for a while and get her back to sleep, but it took about 35 minutes. Even then, she didn’t want me to lay her down, but I told her Mommy was too tired to hold her (I was nodding off in the chair while rocking her), and she needed to sleep in her bed for a little while longer before it was time to get up. So I laid her down and covered her up, and scratched her back for a few minutes, which she loves. And then I crept back to my bed.
And then by 5:55, she was awake again, and calling for Mommy. So I went to get her, planning to bring her back to our bed for just a bit and keep her calm (I usually get up at 6:15am), but she was just instantly wide awake and silly and sweet, but not quiet and calm. So Jeff took her in the living room to watch a movie while I got dressed, and she wanted Cheetos for her morning snack. Haha, this girl and her snacks.
About halfway through getting myself ready, I came to check on them, and this is how I found them. Emmie quietly crunching her Cheetos, and Daddy just “resting his eyes.”
We got to school early so Nana could meet us there and switch cars, so she could pick up Emerson right after work. Emmie wasn’t quite sure what Nana was doing at school this morning, but she gave her sweet loves and was happy to see her! Emerson also got to see Ms. Q again, and gave her some good loves as well. And then little Miss Priss just marched herself right down to her classroom!
For lunch, Meg and I had planned a sister date. So I picked her up from her office, and we went to Zoe’s for lunch. We both love their grilled chicken kebabs, with a small Greek salad on the side. She gets the warm potato salad, but I like the rice pilaf. With plenty of their Greek dressing on all of the things!
The food was delicious, and we had such a great time together! She was talking like 100mph, telling me tons and tons of stories, about work and the triplets and everything in between. At one point, she realized how much she was doing all the talking, and was like, “I’m just a babbling brook!” She later texted me saying, “sorry you couldn’t get a word in edgewise!” It was fine though, I was just glad to be together!
Looks like Emmie had fun today. And I just love this photo of her bouncing on the ball!
So, since Nana works in the building right next to daycare, she got to pick up Emerson right away after she got off work! They went to McAlister’s for dinner, and PopPop met them there. I managed a quick few minutes to drop by for a hug and kiss and hello/goodbye.
And then Jeff and I headed up to the church, for the Singing Christmas Tree 2019 kick-off dinner! The SCT (I’m going to abbreviate that a lot over the next few months, so remember that 😆) will be in exactly three months, on December 13, 14 & 15, so even though it may seem like it’s too early, it’s actually not that much time, considering we only have rehearsal once a week! We had dinner catered by 4 Rivers (a favorite in our church, especially for our Pastor), sang some worship songs all together, fellowshipped and played games, and then had our first “listening preview” of the new SCT songs.
One of the worship songs we sang was “Open Up the Heavens,” and not only did we sound great just casually singing, but these lyrics just really hit me, and made me tear up a little thinking about it all:
“You’re the reason we’re here, You’re the reason we’re singing!”
I also made two new friends tonight, that I had seen around before and knew their names, but didn’t really know them. They are roughly my age (just a few years older), and both Katie and Amanda were super sweet. I sat next Amanda (with my Mama on my other side), and she was really funny, and she has such a pretty singing voice! After tonight, I’m really excited about SCT this year! It was a great night together, and I think it’s going to be an amazing event.
Meanwhile, Nana took Emerson back to our house, so she could do her normal bedtime routine with her, and get her in bed at a reasonable hour, since we didn’t even leave the church until after 9pm. They played a little, and then put on her puppy jammies. I had written down the night-night routine for Nana, since Emerson is very much a creature of habit, and we must do the same routine every single night. And Nana was able to get her down just fine!
I actually started writing this post on my break at work earlier, since I knew we would get home so late tonight, and then I finished up once we got home. Today was a great, busy day, but I’m exhausted! And since we got home so late, by the time I finally get this published, it’ll be bed time!
