Cheese & Crackers

Emerson did our advent calendar, and then found Sheppy reading a book about the nativity this morning, with his big penguin friend that I’ve had for like 10+ years.

I wanted to go to Trader Joe’s early this morning, so we first went to Hardee’s to get breakfast biscuits. But their dining room is still not open for dine-in, so we had to head back out and eat in the car. But dang, Hardee’s makes some good biscuits y’all.

And then we went to Trader Joe’s for a few specific items we wanted, and some florals for a baby shower we’re having at work next week. We bribed Emmie with some 99 cent “organic” gummy bears (what does that even mean?) if she would be good and sweet and not whine while we shopped, and it totally worked. She was really good, and she loved the gummy bears of course!

So the other day before school, Emmie had a fit out of nowhere because she wanted a hat. I have no idea where it came from, except maybe her friends at school had been wearing them in the cold last week. So I mentioned that in the family text last week, and Grandmommie found her this one, that came with cute mittens as well. And not only does she love them both, but good grief she’s so CUTE in this little beanie!

She helped me tidy up the living room, and then we tidied up her room, and then played in her room for a little while. Then I let her watch videos on her Kindle, to keep her occupied while I washed some dishes. She was so sweet just sitting there, next to Pretzel, being so quiet and still. And every now and then, I would hear her singing along to “Twinkle twinkle,” or something like that, and that just about melted me.

Grammy brought her a Lunchable last night, which she was excited to eat for lunch today.

She napped for almost two hours, and I ran out to pick up our Walmart grocery order. I always do it at the West Tennessee Street location, but when I pulled in there and went to “check in,” it said, “You’re 10 minute away.” Apparently I had accidentally put the order in at the Monroe Street location, and I was at the wrong store! So I hopped on the interstate and scooted over to my second Walmart, and grabbed Jeff and I both a Whopper Jr. on my way back home.

Emmie woke up not too long after I got home. She always gets the sweatiest little head when she’s sleeping, and I actually love it. She always smells so sleepy and still like a baby, and it gets crazy curly. I just love this baby girl.

We were still hungry after the teeny tiny burgers, so we busted out the Unexpected Cheddar from Trader Joe’s, and this amazing box of organic assorted crackers, and mmmm sooo good. I want more now while I’m writing this!

Um also, please look at all of the things I’ve been craving lately. Baby and I all about the tart, tangy, salty, pickled things, obviously!

We went over to Nana & PopPop’s house this evening, to hang out and eat dinner. We decided to order take-out from Olive Garden, and it was soo good. Nana and I both got the asiago tortellini with chicken, and it was amazing. I shared mine with Emmie, and we still didn’t finish all of it.

She followed up her dinner with some vanilla ice cream for “bazzert.”

Nana found this sequined reindeer antler headband for Emerson at the Dollar Tree, and she loved it! It will be perfect for her to wear to school in a couple of weeks, when they do fun, Christmas-themed spirit days for an entire week.

Oh, and Nana also bought her this new buffalo check nightgown, that came with a tiny matching one for her little baby doll. And it’s so cute and so soft, and she’s adorable in it, is she not?!

She picked out a few books, and Nana and I took turns reading them to her, before we finally got everything packed up and headed on home for the night.

We immediately put the new nightgown on the baby doll, and their matchy matchy cuteness was almost too much to handle!

Nana also sent her home with a Christmas blankie for her bed, that she was super excited to sleep with. She’s gonna be so warm and toasty tonight in the flannel nightgown and the fleece blankie!

We had a difficult time getting her down tonight, and it ended up taking multiple shifts in and out, and about 45-60 minutes total. We’ve had a couple of bad bedtimes this week, and I decided it’s because her routine was changed up last weekend when the boys were here, and she’s just not back into the groove yet. This happens sometimes when anything throws off her schedule, so I’m hoping things will even out and we’ll go back to smooth bedtimes again soon.

I’ve been watching the pilot of “Dawson’s Creek” on Netflix while writing this blog post tonight, and wowwee it’s so nostalgic. I didn’t really watch the full series when it first came out (I was only 10 when it premiered in 1998), but I know I watched some of it randomly here and there through the years. I’m gonna enjoy watching the full series now!
