Cheerleading & Chicken

One of Emmie’s little friends was pulling up & getting out of the car while we were trying to take pictures, and she was clearly more interested in him than with me. Haha 😉

I really enjoy sitting by the windows reading my book at lunch time, getting away from the computer screen, and getting to sit in a comfy chair for a little while!

And this little guy is always near-by, playing ferocious guard dog.

Apparently, Emerson chose to skip nap-time today, and instead just played with her little best-friend-twins, but it looks like she still had a good day!

I did a super simple dinner tonight, with chicken, rice & black eyed peas, and it was simple but super yummy. And since Emmie didn’t nap today, we had dinner a little early, and then got her in the bath, so that we could get her to sleep for bedtime earlier, because girlfriend was tired.

This was the first time we’ve had this rice (I bought it a couple months ago when people were first starting to freak out and emptying all the grocery shelves and this was one of the only kinds of rice left), but it was really good!

Also, this chicken turned out amazing. I cooked it my usual way (in 1tbsp butter and 2 tbsp olive oil, plus seasonings), but in the final few minutes I decided to slice an onion and throw it in there with the chicken, and it was soooo good. So simple, so yummy!

We just hung out after dinner, watching “Snow White,” and taking out the trash, and checking on our baby oranges, and getting the mail, and picking up the packages from the front steps, and eating some gummy bears for dessert.

One of my two packages was this small order I got from Grove. About a week ago, I ran out of all of my Mrs. Meyer’s dish soaps. I dug out an old bottle of the cheap stuff from the Dollar Tree, and not to sound like a hippy, but that fake lemon smell just smelled so chemical-y. I never noticed it before, but I definitely did this time, now that I’m used to the more subtle, all-natural scents from Mrs. Meyer’s.

So when they emailed me on Monday with free shipping, it was meant to be, especially since the little kit below (hand soap, dish soap, 2 sponges) was on sale for only $11.99! If you haven’t ordered from them before, click here to use my code & get $35 worth of products for free!

Sweet baby nugget had fun in the bath, and I had to practically drag her outta there, because she just wanted to keep on playing forever! But we got her out eventually, and got her dressed for bed. She chose this old yellow nightgown, that she still loves so much, but it only barely still fits! I reminded her about going to Mandy & Aaron’s wedding, and that this was Aaron’s old nightgown, and I practically blew her mind with that info.

I washed up the dishes with my new mint dish soap, then cleaned the stove & counter top with my mint multi-purpose spray (that I still had from one of my old orders), and then washed my hands with my new mint hand soap. And everything just feels and smells so fresh and clean and spring-y!

I’ve been watching that “Cheer” documentary on Netflix lately, and so I’m gonna go curl up and watch another episode, because Jeff is putting himself to bed early tonight too. It’s so interesting, and it makes me miss the good old days of cheerleading in high school! (That’s me front row center, my senior year, circa 2005!)
