Cattails & Coffee

I was the only one of the fam that had to be at church early today, for worship team, so Jeff was able to bring the girls at the “normal” time for church to start. But I got to sing with my sister today, as she led the worship team in the absence of our worship pastor, and she did a great job! And we were all looking nice today, so we had to take some family photos before heading out after church!

Quick lunch at Zaxby’s after church, where I had a $5 off $20 in my app, so we got all of our food for 4 people for only $22, which was a huge win, especially after the accidentally expensive dinner last night.

The girls were very interested in these “cattails” they found outside the restaurant after lunch. I have no idea if they’re actually cattails, but that’s what they called them and they said they were soft and fuzzy and they liked them.

Nap time was necessary after church and lunch. I got Addie down to sleep in her room, and then Jeff went out to get a haircut. Emmie and I snuggled up on the couch, where I promptly fell asleep and she proceeded to watch a movie. Emmie eventually left me and sat on the floor, and Pennie came and took her place. But by the time I woke up, they were both in a little dog pile on top of my legs on the couch.

Once I was able to finally wake up and peel myself off the couch, I made myself a cute little iced coffee to give myself the energy and motivation to tackle this sink-full of overflowing dirty dishes. And it worked, because I did successfully get everything washed and then also scrubbed out the sink and the little mesh drain cover thingies.

Found this doggy-girl all curled up on the couch, looking cute and sleepy.

While I was washing all those dishes, and Jeff was finishing up his car finally, Emmie cleaned up the living room for me. I told her to put on a 15-minute timer and do as much as she could. So she found a cute little clean-up-timer video on YouTube, and got everything so nice and tidy! I was so impressed and proud of her, and so thankful she did that!

So since the living room & dishes were done, I had some free time. I started this puzzle the other day, but never made it further than getting the pieces all laid out and the edges done, and then haven’t been able to work on it since then. But I finally had some time this afternoon, and it started coming together really quickly. I was able to pick out all the city names, and I got those done fast and easy.

We had our Connect Groups at church tonight, so we headed back there this evening. Our group had great discussion and conversation on 1 Corinthians 5, and I know the girls had fun playing with their friends.

Ellie was having a bit of a meltdown getting her shoes on at the end of the night, so Addie just went over to her and loved her, and then sat down with her while she worked it out. It was really sweet, and so obviously I had to slide over to sneak a picture of them together.

Everyone needed a snack when we got home, so while the girls snacked, I worked on my puzzle and then we got started on all the bedtime things. When it was time to head to Emmie’s bed, she was like, “Mommy, can I read my magic treehouse book first?” And I was like, “Well duh obviously you can read babes!”

Today was another good day, just a little more chill than yesterday, but still just as good.
