Candle Warmer

I was back on duty in GC Kids today, and Jeff was serving in the sound booth on the tech team. So that meant all of us went to church together early, and we had a great morning!

At first, we had a hard time decided where to eat for lunch today. But then Jeff suddenly remembered this new place on our side of town called Smalls Sliders, so we “slid through” for lunch. (That’s their slogan, they have a sign when you exit that says, “Thanks for sliding through!”) And y’all, it was SO good. They literally only have this one thing on their menu, and you basically just choose how many sliders you want. You can upgrade with bacon, or make them doubles, but that’s it! The kids meals were the perfect size though, for a good price. And these two sliders more than filled me up, and I still had about four fries left I couldn’t finish.

Oh yeah and you can get a cup of queso for dipping. We tried it on the burgers and the fries, and although it was good, I could have done without it. I thought their “smauce” (which is kinda like 1000 Island) was better, and would rather dip everything in that next time.

Emerson of course demolished her entire slider, and most of her fries. We worked with Addison to keep on taking more bites (we play games like, “bite when I bite”) and she ate all but about two tiny bites. So that was a huge win!

When we got home, I made Jeff take down our living room curtain for me, and then I threw them in the washing machine. That was one of the things on my January to-do list that we haven’t done in forever (or more accurately, ever), and they were definitely getting dingy in the spots we always touch to open and close them.

Jeff and Addison laid down for a nap together, and Emerson and I curled up in the bright sunny living room to read together, under a cozy blanket, with the backdoor slightly cracked open just enough to let in some cool fresh air. Also, we decided we’re still loving the twinkle lights and the Christmas tree, so we’re leaving it up for one more week, and we’ll get it taken down over the long MLK weekend next week.

I fell asleep after about 30 minutes of reading, and had myself a nice little couch nap. By the time I woke up and got moving, it was time to get started on dinner. I shredded fresh Swiss cheese by hand, but used a shortcut with the pre-cooked bacon crumbles. But I also made caramelized onions, for my half only, and turned it all into a delicious crustless quiche.

Added some cottage cheese and no-sugar peaches on the side, and this was very yummy. I’m actually going to try to start eating healthier, by trying to do a mostly low-carb meal plan as much as possible. And just trying to make healthier eating choices as much as possible. (Lunch today not withstanding.)

Immediately after I finished eating (you can see the girls were still finishing up at the coffee table in the background), I put away the leftovers in one container for me to take to work, and one container for the girls to have for their breakfast tomorrow. And I also went ahead and washed up the few dishes from tonight too, and the sink is still super clean and empty.

We snuggled up to watch some Bluey, and I was reading my book. Emmie claims she wasn’t asleep for this photo, but she looks pretty out of it to me!

Sweet little babies were very good at bedtime tonight!

Still working away on this wintry cabin puzzle, because these parts with only clouds and trees and snow are going sooo slow.

But I’ve got my little candle warmer on still, and I made a cup of hot peppermint tea, and I’m watching “People We Meet on Vacation” on Netflix, so it’s all very cozy. I read this book over the summer with my book club (before it kinda all fell apart…), and loved it. It was one of the older Emily Henry books that I hadn’t yet read at the time, and it was so good! I’m sure the movie is going to be great too!

And if you can’t tell by the multiple photos that all include the candle warmer, I’m obsessed with this little thing! It’s so pretty and cozy, and the amount of light in the kitchen is just perfect. And obviously the candle smells so good too.
