Blanket or Skirt?

Last night, after posting the photo of my Christmas tree wrapped in my new chunky white yarn, Emmie’s old teacher Ms. Q commented that she wanted to do it as well. I had an extra skein at home I thought I might try to return, but I decided to just give it to her instead! So on the ride to school, I told Emmie we needed to look for Ms. Q because we had a surprise for her, and Emmie was like, “I wanna hold Q!” Luckily, she walked into work right as we were getting out of the car, so Emmie ran up to her, and gave her a big hug, and we gave her the yarn for her tree!

And this silly picture cracks me up! 🙂

She was thrilled to get her muffin, even if her face doesn’t look like it…

At work today, we had a meeting for our little 8-person unit. (We currently have an open position actually, so there were only 7.) The meeting was at 11am, and then our boss provided us chili for lunch immediately after the meeting. And it was so yummy! We got to just hang out in the conference room eating and chatting together, which was nice, since we don’t normally do that! (So now I’ve had chili for three days in a row, and I think I’m good for a while now…)

Grammy picked up Emerson from school today, like she usually does on Wednesday’s, and the family all met at Blaze Pizza for dinner. Emerson however, told Grammy she wanted chicken & cheese noodles, so I ran into Popeye’s for a kids meal for her, before meeting up for pizza. (And what’s weird, I ate the same foods/meals for two days in a row: muffins for breakfast, chili for lunch, pizza for dinner.)

I’m so obsessed with their blood orange lemonade. I’m actually drinking it while I blog right now! (I got a refill before leaving, left it in my car during church, then brought it home & put fresh ice in it, and it’s still just as delicious.)

Choir usually starts at 6:10pm, but we didn’t start until 7pm tonight. So after dinner, we had some time to kill. I have been wanting a new, neutral tree skirt that won’t clash with my dining room rug, so Emerson, Grammy and I went over to Home Goods to look for one there, before going out to church. I found a super cute off-white knitted blanket that I loved, so I decided to try that out since I couldn’t find a skirt I loved.

I got super hot digging through all the tree skirts and blankets, so I took my scarf off, and Emmie wanted to wear it.

She also wanted to try out all the furniture, and her and I were both impressed with this fancy, boho-chic hanging chair.

We still got to church really early and had some more time to kill, so we kept Emmie with us in the sanctuary for a while, before taking her to the nursery. Uncle Keith even took her up inside the giant Christmas tree, so she could check it out for herself! She loved it so much, and after a few minutes of running around, she made him take her up there again for a second time.

Practicing for 4-6 years from now, when she can sing in the kids’ choir…

Since choir was scheduled to start so late tonight, and then it took us 30 more minutes to get ready to load the tree, I ended up not even getting on. I was already planning to leave around 7:30/7:45, and since we didn’t load until 7:28, I decided to just head out. I snapped a picture first (you can see the lines of people on either side waiting to climb up), and then went to pick up Emerson. Rehearsal lasted until 9pm tonight, and it would have been wayyyy too late for her had I stayed the whole time.

I actually brought Emmie back into the sanctuary to watch them sing for a few minutes, and I tried to point out Grammy & Uncle Keith on the tree, but I’m not sure if she actually saw them or not. We stayed and watched for just a few minutes, and then headed home.

While Emmie curled up in Daddy’s lap in the recliner to watch a couple of night-night videos, I tried out the new tree blanket-tree-skirt-thingy (do we now call it a skirt, or is it still a blanket?) and hid Sheppy underneath it. And I love it so much! Oh and yes, I did in fact finish putting on all the ornaments last night, and I think it’s beautiful 🙂

She was super sweet at bedtime, and told me a little about her day. I can’t remember now what she told me, but I do remember she talked a little bit about her besties, William & Andrew. Haha.

Jeff just turned on the electric kettle for us to have some hot tea, and we’re going to finish watching “Christmas with the Kranks,” which we started last night. That’s one of the movies we make sure to watch every year, and it’s just so funny! One of my favorite parts is after he gets botox, and can’t eat the peaches and they keep falling out of his mouth. Y’all know the part I’m talking about?

Anyways, I have the perfect view of the tree from my normal spot on the couch, so I love glancing back and forth from the tv to the beautiful tree as we watch a fun Christmas movie.
