Today was “wear red” day at school. I was very pleased to find this overlooked red dress in her closet that was not only perfect for today, but also incredibly cute!
Frittata & bread for lunch today at work were both just as delicious as leftovers, as when they were fresh.
And my little girl had a good day at school…
Look at her up on her cute little tippy toes!
I asked Jeff to set out all the ingredients for bread again, and as soon as Emerson and I got home, I whisked together another load to throw in the oven, while that baked, I defrosted the beef & veggie stew I made earlier this month, and then we all three played in the carport for a little while before dinner.
Uncle Keith found this tiny bicycle abandoned in a trash pile last weekend, and scooped it up for Emerson, complete with training wheels & helmet! It needs to be fixed up a little bit, but they’re all minor things Jeff can do for cheap, and now she has a free bike she can learn to ride on! And she just insisted on trying it out real quick tonight of course.
But then she hopped on the tiny bike Grammy and Papa gave her for her first birthday, and took a couple of laps. I mentioned to Jeff she was almost too big for it now (her legs are getting long!), and be reminded me it could be turned into a scooter! And she really liked that!
The stew from a few weeks ago froze and then reheated really well, and it still tasted really fresh & yummy! So we had fresh bread, and re-heated homemade beef & veggie stew, and all was delicious!
Emerson was laying her bear down to go to sleep on her lovey, and being very sweet.
Then she was being a goofball and acting all crazy, but she told me they counted to 100 today! Then she started going, “96! 91! 99! 92! 94! 93! 91!” She was all over the place, but she was very excited about it! (I also find her ragamuffin hair very funny.)
We’ve had a really rough bedtime tonight, and it’s still not over, at 9:32pm. We’ve been trying to get her to calm down for over an hour now, and she’s just very clingy and needy. This most recent time I went in there, I held her and sang lullabies, then later down in the bed and sat in the chair next to her, for about 30 minutes total. She seemed like she was asleep, so I tried to tip-toe out of the room, but she woke up and started crying before I got out. She said she needed me and she asked me not to go to sleep, and she’s still been in there crying since I left about 10 minutes ago…
I was hoping she would calm down on her own if I left her for a few minutes, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. So it seems I’ll have to go back in there again, because she’s crying and asking for one more lullaby. hoping and praying that one more lullaby actually helps, and then she’ll lay down and go to sleep! We’ve actually had a few rough bedtimes in a row this whole week, so I don’t know if she’s going through a weird sleep regression kind of thing, or a weird growth spurt time, or if it’s a weird phase of the moon, but I’m worn out! worn out!
