Making silly faces as usual, but still just as adorable as ever!
So yesterday I had to stop for gas, and ran inside to grab a couple of snacks, based on this weeks FuelPerks Rewards, one of which was the new dipped Rice Krispies treats. You got 5 cents off per gallon for every treat, so I grabbed one chocolate and one cookies & cream. This morning, I told Emerson she could have 1 or 2 bites with Daddy before school to try them out, while I finished getting ready.
Then in the car, I asked her which one she tried, the white or chocolate, and she said, “One bite of white and one bit of chocolate, and then another chocolate bite because Daddy is crazy! Because you said 2 or 1 bites.” So I said, “Oh and Daddy gave you 3 bites because he’s crazy!” And she said, “YEP!”
I had saved a little of the cooked ground sausage from the frittatta the other night, and used it this morning to make scrambled egg & cheese & sausage breakfast sammies for us before work. And it was delish! I made too much for today, so we’ll get to just heat it up and eat it again tomorrow. Yum!
Emerson actually didn’t nap at all today, because she said one of her little friends was crying during nap and Emmie couldn’t sleep either. She seems to have had a good day though, despite the no-nap situation.
After picking her up, and cuddling on the couch for a while, she was trying so very hard to open the sliding glass door to let Pretzel back inside, but the tiny little thing just isn’t strong enough yet to do it on her own.
I made super simple spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, with garlic cheese bread. I was planning to make a side salad to go with it, but the head of romaine lettuce I ordered in my grocery pick-up the other day was out of stock, so the salad got nixed.
Emmie didn’t really feel like eating dinner, so we did a video call with Aunt Meggie (Emerson was sad to learn that Uncle Bo was at church and the babies were already asleep), and then with Grammy & Grandmommie (and Emerson was sad to learn that Papa was out of town), where she finally ate some dinner while on the phone with them. Then when we called Papa, she said she needed to do some gardening, but then pretended to make tea for Papa and me with her watering can and flower pots.
After eating just about half of her dinner, she was of course still hungry and needing a snack, so we went for a fruits & veggies pouch, to hopefully get some decent nutrition in her at least. Halfway through it, she was like, “I folded it up like Papa did for me one time.”
After taking a potty break and getting her nightgown on, it got a little trapped up in her undies, which was funny, but luckily it was juts around the house for a minute 🙂
We read “The Hiccup Cure” at bedtime, which used to be one of mine and Megan’s books growing up, like 20-25 years ago.
For the first time tonight, Emerson said her own bedtime prayer. I told her it was time for prayers (which usually I do every night, reciting the prayer my Mama always said to Megan and me growing up), but she just launched in and started saying it herself, praying for our family and to sleep good and it was so incredibly sweet and precious.
Things kind of fell apart not too long after that, because she “wasn’t tired and didn’t want to sleep,” but she was upset and crying. She told us she needed to poop, so we went to the bathroom, and sat there for 10 minutes, with her saying she was still pooping and wasn’t done yet, only come to find out she hadn’t done anything at all. So she got a little talking-to about lying and about not trying to stay up later after bedtime. Jeff told her the story about the boy who cried wolf, but I’m not sure how much of it sunk in…
So we put her back in her bed after extra hugs and kisses and squeezes, and less than 30 seconds later she was screaming again that she had to go poop. So Jeff went back in there and took her to the bathroom again, but once again she didn’t do anything. She has obviously learned now that if she yells “I have to go potty,” we will come running, pretty much no matter what… So somehow we’re gonna have to break that habit.
Anyways, it’s late now and it’s time to chill, so good night friends!
