We started off our morning super early, as usual with this girl, and chowed down on some “cunch cunch,” which is Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Then we made lunch early… I’ve had this new egg-cooker for a couple of months now (got it on Amazon for about $17), but I hadn’t used it yet. My tiny helper climbed up on the counter and helped me figure it all out.
It made seriously the most perfect hard-boiled eggs (no dark gray ring, no green yolks!), and it was literally the easiest thing ever. It tells you how much water to use, has an automatic timer (that plays a musical ditty instead of beeps), and is zero-fuss. I loved it. Then we made them into egg salad & put it in the fridge to cool for lunch.
Oh and while I got things all gathered up, Jeff took Emmie to get changed, and she wanted to pick her own clothes, and chose the same dress as yesterday morning.
I also saved one of the seven hard-boiled eggs for tuna. Jeff doesn’t like hard-boiled eggs though, so I split one can into two and put the eggs in mine only. And this tuna was goooood.
Emerson picked out this watermelon at Trader Joe’s yesterday, so I cut it up for our lunch today, and it was delicious.
We kind of just lazed around this morning, playing and watching “Lilo & Stitch,” so before we knew it, it was actually lunch-time. Jeff fixed us the cold brew I made yesterday, and I fixed up our lunches. I also got these ciabatta rolls at TJ’s yesterday, and they felt like a treat instead of “regular” bread.
Slightly surprisingly, this girl absolutely loves egg salad, and ate every single bite of the scoop I gave her.
I had been seriously pushing the fluids with this girl today, so after lunch, we went to try the potty before nap time. I settled in to sit super close to her on the floor (she was being super clingy while I was trying to put lunch stuff away), but after only like thirty seconds, I told her if she didn’t go potty, she couldn’t play in the water table or have any cookies, and all of a sudden I heard her start going! She wasn’t totally thrilled about it, but she did it!
Since she went potty on the toilet, she got to open a present that had been waiting on her. My Great-Aunt Doll Baby (a nickname that literally every one calls for, or DB for short), has sent Emerson two presents recently as potty prizes, and they’ve been sitting in the bathroom waiting on her for weeks. So today she finally got to open one. And it was this super adorable cooking baking set, which she loved, and I did too!
My girl was super tired, and she was really easy to get down for nap time. She gave me lots of cuddles and kisses and I told her how proud I was of her going pee in the potty. She was cute and shy about it, but I could tell she was happy too.
We are celebrating my Dad’s birthday tomorrow with a pool party & dinner, so I did a little gift shopping at Beall’s & Ross today. While I was there, I picked up a couple of little gifts for myself too 😉 I also painted my fingernails & toenails today, and enjoyed another cup of cold brew coffee.
I loved this little plant so much, and instantly found a place for it in the living room. The back side of the basket is flat and has a little handle, so it’s perfect to hang on the wall. There were actually a few of them there, so I’m thinking when I go to Walmart tomorrow to pick up our grocery order, I will definitely maybe run back in a grab another plant. That white circle on the left is our wi-fi, and Jeff says it’s on the wall temporarily until he runs some cables through the attic, but I think once that’s gone, a second little plant basket would look super cute over there on that side.
After Little slept on her baby hair bun, she woke up looking like such a mess, but with the crazy hair and the nightgown, she reminded me of a little old lady with a crazy lady hair bun, and I loved it.
And since Emerson actually peed in the potty before nap time, she got to play in her water table again! I got it all set up for her, and set my chair up so I was just barely in the sprinkler zone. Jeff mowed the back yard while Emmie and I enjoyed some fun water time.
She was also very sweet and kept pouring water on my feet and legs for me, to keep me cooled off. After a few dumps on my feet, she got a little crazy and just dumped it straight at my chest and stomach, even though I was fully clothed and not in a bathing suit. But that was actually fine with me, because it was super duper hot! Eventually, I went over and played in the table with her, and we had lots of fun together.
She had to take a time-out from playing for a bit, to smell all over the rosemary bush.
Oh, and she also took a minute to squat in the grass and pee in the front yard! I could tell she needed to go, and I didn’t want her to keep holding it forever because that’s the whole major problem, so I just let her go for it. And she did it!
After getting dried off and dressed, she baked some cookies, while I picked out her clothes for school next week. In all of the new hand-me-downs, and stuff in her closet that she’s finally growing in to, I actually found something new for her to wear every day next week. With how excited I was to pick out her clothes for her “first week back to school,” it felt like she was more of a teenager or something, rather than a three-year-old. (I know she’s been at school this whole time, but it still feels exciting, because she is promoting to a new classroom!)
And then we went to Nana & PopPop’s house for dinner and playtime! We ordered Chinese food, and Emerson stuffed her face full of so much food. The girl loves Chinese food! Then Nana and Emmie baked up a double batch of chocolate chip cookies. Emmie was actually a really good little helper, and did such a good job. And I loved her little tea towel tied like an apron!
She even got to taste test some of her goods, with a spoon up on the counter-top. She went into the living room to tell Daddy & PopPop all about it, and was like, “It’s soooooo sugary!”
But she was very proud! So she got to bake pretend cookies with her new wooden toy set, and also bake them for real with Nana!
She loves her Nana very much 🙂
She wouldn’t go pee on the potty for me at Nana’s house, but as soon as we got home, she peed on the potty again for Mommy! So she went on the potty TWICE today! Once yesterday, and twice today, and I told her the deal was to do it three times tomorrow, so we could keep getting better and better at it.
Since she peed on the potty, I told her she could pick two books for bedtime, and coincidentally she picked two books that counted to five, one forwards and one backwards. She was super sleepy and sweet at bedtime, and relatively easy to get down in her bed.
Oh also, we’ve started talking about getting her a big girl bed for when she starts going pee in the potty all the time, and she’s actually super excited about it. There’s a toddler bed at IKEA that I’ve been in love with for like five years (before she even existed), so we’re probably going to order it & pick it up while we’re in Jax, and hopefully get to set it up in her room soon! We showed her the picture of it the other day, and she loved it. There was a panda in the photo too which she loved, so we told her we’d buy her the panda to go with the new bed, and then she was really sold.
We had a pretty late night, and it’s now past 10pm when I’m finally getting this finished up and published. By now, it’s almost my bedtime. Looking forward to another fun, family day again tomorrow!
