Baking & Cleaning & Thrifting

Honestly, I don’t feel like writing much tonight, because I’d rather be doing other things, like painting my nails or starting a new puzzle. So let’s get right to it! Cinnamon rolls for breakfast, followed by a Goodwill trip, and a Walmart trip, all just us girls, while Jeff did some work at one of his side hustles.

It may not have actually been sunny today, it was the opposite with all the gray clouds, but these two are without a doubt the sunshine in my life every single day!

By the time we got back home it was lunch time, and then we sat in the front yard right before noon, just in case there was going to be a flyover before the FSU game today. And although there was not, the girls had fun outside for a few minutes, before going inside for naptime.

Both girls had nice, long naps today – two hours for Emmie, and over three for Addie. While the girls slept, I worked hard cleaning the house (the front of the house was a straight disaster zone) and washing the dishes. I finished the audiobook of “The Office BFF’s” with “Pam & Angela” from “The Office.” It was so good, and even made me tear up a little bit! Definitely want to rewatch the series now, since it’s been a few years.

When Emmie woke up, we first baked a batch of brownies for ourselves, and then baked a cake for me to take to our office luncheon on Monday. (We got a bunch of clothes on clearance at Walmart today, including this baby Yoda dress, that came in a 2-pack with a pink dress. We got it in 4T and 18m for Addie to grow into, since each 2-pack was only $3. It’s supposed to be a real dress, but it’s so soft, we thought it would make a good night gown.)

Once Addie finally woke up from her long nap, we made another trip to a Goodwill across town. We’ve decided we need a small bookshelf for Emerson’s room for her ever-growing children’s library, so we’re on the hunt now. Didn’t get a shelf today, but we got a couple good old vintage records, and an amazing new lamp, that was only $17, with a marble base.

The girls were in love with this giant giraffe, and all three of them (Jeff included) tried to talk me into getting it, but I held firm and we left him there.

We also went to Hobby Lobby to get a new mat for a photo frame, and that place was just absolute chaos. But we got what we went for (well, sorta – we’ll have to make some adjustments with what we have to get what we need), and then we were all starving and ready for dinner.

I wanted sushi or tacos, but Emmie and Jeff both just wanted burgers, so I compromised and got a chicken sandwich from Culver’s, with green pepper soup, which was actually pretty good.

Plugged in the new lamp once we got home and got everything unloaded, and it is SO bright! I’m not sure yet where in the house I’m going to put it, or if I might even take it to my office. For now, it’s still on the kitchen counter, and I’m loving it. The price sticker was actually dated today, so I think we got lucky finding it the same day it was put out!

Jeff went to bed super early tonight, before we even started on the girls’ bedtime, after he got up early this morning and worked hard at his side hustle. (He was doing stuff to actually run cable & internet lines, not just his normal IT support stuff, so it was one of the more physical things he typically does.) Luckily Addison was ready to just lay down in her crib, so I did bedtime with Emerson, and things went perfectly smoothly.

I think I’m gonna go start my puzzle and work on that for a little bit, and then paint my nails later, so I can do both the things I wanted to do tonight 🙂
