Fifteen Years

I don’t even know what was going on with these sister pics this morning, but these girls are just so cute and so silly!

Today was another nice little girls lunch with my favorite ladies, at Slim Chickens today, where all four of us ordered the buffalo wrap.

And then when we got back to the office, I asked Aunt Q to take my picture, because today was my 15-year anniversary working at the Florida Department of Corrections! As I’ve said before, I never anticipated my post-college temp job to evolve into a long-term career, but I’m so thankful and blessed for all the opportunities and promotions along the way!

Although math has never been my strong suit (which is partly why I got a Communication degree, because there was very little match involved!), but in a twist of fate, I do math all day every day for my job, calculating the proper release date for inmates, specifically for probation violators, or inmates who have had their conviction overturned & then been re-convicted again. Some days it’s like solving a puzzle (and we know I love puzzles!), and some days everything is just going crazy and I’m putting out fires and emergencies all day. It’s never boring, and I’ve learned SO much (case laws, statutes, sentencing laws, policies & procedures), with still SO much more to learn, and more chances for promotions and growth in the future.

We had a crazy busy night with more car trouble, lots going on at church tonight, and trying to get dinner for all of us in the midst of that. We managed to handle everything, but it was really late by the time we were getting the girls to bed, and we had a few grumpy family members at bedtime, but still, we got the girls to sleep… Now I need to turn my brain off and get a little rest and relaxation before bedtime.
