One last day of Christmas break for Emerson, and she hung out with Nana again all day. Addison was just very happy to see Nana, and then head into school herself.
Nana and Emmie had oatmeal for breakfast and watched a movie this morning. Then they went out and about on errands, and lunch date with a couple of Nana’s friends, and some thrifting and shopping.
Nana picked up Addie early today after their errands, and they went back to their house. Nana got started on a giant pot of her infamous homemade creamy chicken noodle soup, and when I got there, I made the grilled cheese sandwiches. (The secret to both the creamy soup and super creamy sandwiches, is Velveeta cheese!)
We ate dinner in their living room on tv trays, while watching the live-action version of “Aladdin” with the girls. We also had some garlic pepper chicken wings they found at Sam’s, which we reheated in the air fryer, and some carrots & celery on the side as well. This was so warm and cozy and comforting and yummy.
After we ate, the girls played on Nana’s iPad, and I just laid back on the couch with a blanket and stayed there watching “Wheel of Fortune,” being completely lazy. And it was so nice! Normally, our weeknights consist of me running around wild from 5-8pm, picking up the girls, making dinner, cleaning up, and finally getting them ready for bed. But tonight, I got to just sit back and relax, and Nana even sent us home with leftover soup!
It was a little late by the time we got the girls home and in bed, but Emmie was asleep after just a few minutes. She already has her outfit laid out for school tomorrow, now that she finally goes back after two and a half weeks off for the Christmas break (and praise the Lord for that!). Addie was a little wound up and being silly at bedtime, so she had some extra time with both mommy and daddy, and now hopefully she’s winding down back in her room with Jeff.
Also, I saw this photo of “Orange Posset” posted in the Tally Foodies Home page on Facebook today, and I really wanna try it. Obviously we have enough oranges to spare, and it’s only a handful of ingredients. Maybe we’ll give it a whirl one night this week or this weekend.
