Welp, as usual, this baby girl woke up wayyy earlier than I would have liked. I had an alarm set for 7:30, just in case, but of course she was up by 6:30. But we sat on the couch together and cuddled while we watched a kids show on Netflix.
She got dressed and we colored some more of her Publix picture from yesterday, and she tried to color her face too.
Then I got annoyed at myself, when it was time to bake the casserole… I had just glanced at the instructions last night, and I thought it said bake for 30 minutes. But it actually said bake for 30 minutes covered PLUS 30 minutes uncovered… So we were 30 minutes late to church. And I was just so annoyed at myself, because I had been up since 6:30, and would have had more than enough time to bake it, if I would have paid more attention! But we made it eventually, and everyone loved it! It was all completely gone!
Emmie loved seeing her people after church and getting all the hugs and loves and kisses. (And yes, she had to wear her “pack pack” to & from church today.)
On the way to lunch after church, I asked her what she learned about in Sunday school, and she just immediately started singing, “Jesus Loves Me.” I didn’t even know she knew the song so well, and I was so impressed! This is why it’s important to get little ones in church at an early age! So thankful for great Sunday school teachers that teach her these things. It was so cute, I almost cried! (Interpretation – “Jesus wuv me, Jesus wuv me, si know, Bible tell me oooohh, little so, little, little! some…”)
We thought we might attempt to get the new Popeye’s chicken sandwich for lunch, but not only was the drive-thru line crazy, and the inside was crazy, but there were also printed pages saying the sandwiches were all out, and they would “be back soon.” So we landed on Taco Bell instead, and it was actually super delicious today.
Also, Emerson saw a little boy drinking this thing, and she just started whining and HAD TO have it. She kept saying “cup shake, cup shake!” So Daddy gave in and got it for her. It was really hard to keep her from just slurping the whole thing down right away! We convinced her to share with us, and we tried to gulp it down, so there was less of it for her, haha.
Emmie went down right away for her nap, and she slept from 2pm – 4:50pm. Almost three full hours! During that time, Jeff and I hung out together a little bit, and then I fell asleep on the couch for a little while too.
She woke up super sweet and had some Goldfish for her afternoon snack.
And then we went to wander around the front yard and driveway for a while, so we could all get some fresh air. Jeff and I were ready to come in looooong before Emmie was though, because she appears to just be impervious to the 100 degree heat!
The side of our front yard is lined with trees and bushes between us & the neighbors, and this honeysuckle is running wild right now, and I love it!
We also inspected our orange tree, where one of the branches broke and died and dropped all the oranges. The rest of them are still doing really good though!
We had actually planned to go back to church tonight for a special baptism service that started at 5pm, but since Emmie slept so long and late (until 4:50), we decided to take a rain check and stay home. So since I hadn’t planned on cooking tonight, I just scrounged to find some stuff in the freezer, so we had chicken nuggets and onion rings, and it was good! I’d never bought or made these onion rings before, but the Alexia brand frozen sides were BOGO at Publix last week, so I got these & sweet potato fries (which we’ve had before and loved), but the onion rings turned out delicious as well!
We played again for a while after dinner, then put on Emmie’s dino jammies, and cleaned up the living room and vacuumed.
She then wandered around the house in her jammies & slippers, with her “pack pack” and a water bottle, saying, “Emmie’s watuh boddle.”
She was a little crazy at bedtime, asking for all the things (milk, chicken nuggets, Daddy, etc…), so it took a while to get her calmed down. Eventually, Daddy did have to come in and switch places with me, but her rocked her to bed and she let him lay her down in her crib after a few night-night songs.
I washed a bunch of dishes earlier while dinner was baking, and then we ate on disposable plates, so there’s no more chores to deal with tonight. So now I get to just sit down and chill, and I’m thinking we’ll watch an episode or two of “Fringe” now!
Special shout-out to my hubby for getting today’s video trimmed up and small enough to insert into this blog. (It’s tricky, and clearly I don’t know how to do it, since I tried yesterday and it didn’t work.)
