Christmas Day 2025

Unfortunately, Jeff and I are always procrastinators when it comes to all the Christmas prep. So even though we did quite a bit on Tuesday, we still had a lot to finish up last night, so it was past midnight when we finally checked off all the boxes. But everything looked so great when we finally made it to bed! (And although the boys weren’t with us this year, and we didn’t put anything in their stockings, we still wanted to lay them out with the family!)

A Dancer & A Princess

The girls and I stayed home all day today, on what my dad calls “Christmas Adam” (because Adam came before Eve), and had a great day together. Cereal for breakfast, a little bit of cleaning up for me, lots of playing and costumes for the girls, and a nice long shower for me. We had lunch, and then went outside into the front yard for a long time. They attempted the “airplane” move over and over again, and although they never really nailed it, they had tons of fun trying!

A Very GC Christmas

This morning was such a big day at church for our kiddos, especially Emerson! She did such an amazing job with her solo, and I was so proud of her. She reached over to grab my hand about halfway through the song, and I had to think of anything else going on so that I didn’t start crying while singing. It was just such a sweet moment!

Winter Wonderland

We did it! We finally made it to Christmas break. After a week of parties, gifts for friends, gifts for teachers, gifts for coworkers, food for work parties, “trinkets” for school stockings, two totally different dress-up week schedules for the two different schools, cooking dinner three times, church one night, packing lunches for me and Addie every day, and a partridge in a pear tree… But we’re here, and I’m off the entire week of Christmas, so hopefully we can have a nice, slow, holiday week together next week.

Stolen Hours

So weirdly, we don’t have any pictures from today prior to 7pm… Jeff took some of the girls at school drop-off, but somehow they disappeared. Then dinner after work was so quick, we just shoveled it down and moved on. Jeff took the girls to church tonight, while I went to the Dollar Tree to pick up some supplies I need for our work Christmas party tomorrow. Then I baked this box of blondies from Trader Joe’s, also for the office party tomorrow, and washed up a ton of dishes.

Peppermint Tea

Today was “Grinch” day for Emerson, but we didn’t have anything Grinch, so she just went with green. And for Addison it was “dress like a Christmas tree” day, so she also went with a green shirt, topped off with a Christmas tree lights headband!

Stocked up on a giant box of peppermint tea for my personal tea stash at the office, which was a good thing, since they sent us outside for a fire drill at 9:30 am in 37-degree temperatures!

Classic meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for dinner, which felt like another nostalgic nineties meal like last night’s meal. Emmie loved the meatloaf, and Addie loved the green beans. And Jeff, who’s nickname is “Mr. Potato Head,” loved the potatoes of course.

We watched part of “The Christmas Chronicles” on Netflix after dinner, until it was time to get the girls into bed. Pennie wanted to come back and cuddle up tonight, and she spent the whole time laying directly on top of my leg, putting my leg to sleep as well 🤣

We need to fold some laundry and wash some dishes, but I also want to have another mug of hot tea and watch a Christmas movie. So I better get going on my chores, so I can also enjoy some free time!
